one of the more under-discussed developments this cycle is how competitive SOL is becoming with centralized exchanges
with platforms like Sunrise and Backpack expanding access to crypto assets and tokenized stocks, more spot trading activity can move directly onchain
Solana's low fees and fast execution make it possible to build trading infrastructure that can compete with centralized venues, sometimes even offering better spreads
i'm also keeping an eye on Wormhole, which plays an important role in cross-chain infrastructure and looks interesting after such a significant drawdown
haven't bought any yet, but it's worth watching as tokenized assets continue gaining traction on SOL

imagine discovering youtube in 2010 and thinking: great, american tv shows can now be distributed globally.
you’d be right. but you’d miss the point.
the real 1000x was that youtube created an entirely new class of global-native content that traditional tv could never compete with (ie., medium is the message)
tokenization will do the same to capital markets
it won’t just make american equities easier to buy. it will take high-quality, under-distributed companies around the world and violently reprice them.
the subtler point is: distribution is valuation.
distribution was always one of the great moats of US capital markets.
and that monopoly has now met its final boss: internet-scale distribution of any stock in the world to anyone with a smartphone.
imagine every public company on earth were listed on the NYSE, and every person on earth had robinhood installed
do you think today’s relative valuations would survive?

Wormhole is moving into a new phase. We are prioritizing a leaner and more asset-focused approach.
We are entering this next phase with one core belief. The main use case for blockchains has always been inherently financial. We are witnessing the indisputable rise of 24/7 markets, asset tokenization, faster settlement, and the democratization of finance.
Just a few weeks ago, we saw SpaceX’s extremely hot IPO launch onchain via Sunrise and tradable on Solana at essentially the same time as the NASDAQ. Since then there has been over $670M in volume onchain from the Sunrise launch of SPCX. Other listings have followed in fast succession: MU (Micron Technology) SNDK (Sandisk) and more. The gap is closing.
I believe that the combination of Wormhole, Sunrise and our various partners (below) can act as the asset issuance layer across all onchain venues. Sunrise was the last piece of the puzzle. It goes beyond simple issuance tech. It encompasses everything required to make an onchain market liquid and successful, and for those who have been in this industry long enough know… this is the hard part. It’s one thing to issue an asset, it’s a much different and more difficult thing to make it successful.
After 4~ years of Wormhole and following the creation of the foundation, I will be shifting my personal focus to advising Wormhole Labs and working closely with the layer of applications built on Wormhole to drive more value & revenue to the protocol (e.g. Sunrise, Portal, and Mayan). Together with key partners like Backpack, Securitize, Hyperliquid and Solana... onchain equities stablecoins and more are gaining real adoption and wormhole is the connectivity layer.
The foundation will be run by Denise Carlin who has been leading internal operations for the last 2+ years. As for Wormhole Labs, I am excited to back Saeed Badreg (@shadddowfax) at the helm.
