A man in Cleveland shot two people near East 120th and Miles, then went live on Instagram while one was dead and the other was dying.
He stood outside the house in a black hoodie with a gun in his hand, filming the doorway and the aftermath like it was just another post. One victim is dead. The second is in critical condition. As of this afternoon there is still no arrest.
This is what East 120th and Miles produced last night: a killer who decided two lives were disposable and then decided the rest of us should watch. He did not hide. He broadcast it. That only happens in a place where the people doing the shooting have stopped expecting real consequences and the block has stopped expecting anything better.
Cleveland’s East Side keeps generating these scenes. The only new part is that the man who just killed two people is the one holding the camera. When that becomes normal in a neighborhood, the neighborhood has already lost. The rest of the city can keep calling it isolated or it can look at the same streets producing the same results year after year.
The man who filmed himself after the shooting is still free. That is the current state of East 120th and Miles.
