Chef Boyardee stretches the beef in its ravioli with soy dyed to match it.
Read the can. Tomatoes, water, enriched wheat flour, beef, cracker meal, then under 2% of high fructose corn syrup, salt, textured vegetable protein, modified corn starch, soybean oil, carrots, dehydrated onion, caramel color, citric acid, enzyme modified cheese and flavorings. The textured vegetable protein has its own parentheses on the label, soy flour, soy protein concentrate and caramel color, and nobody colors soy brown for fun. It's so you can't pick it out of the beef once it's cooked into the filling. The cracker meal is just more flour ground fine. It soaks up the fat and juice so the filling doesn't fall apart in the can.
The can is the reason for most of the rest. Once it's sealed it goes into a retort at around 250F and sits there for the better part of an hour. Regular cornstarch turns to water under that, so the sauce gets modified corn starch, which holds. Enzyme modified cheese is cheese that's been broken down partway with enzymes until it tastes many times stronger than it started, so a pinch does what a handful of the real thing would. The company's current label data puts the whole 15 ounce can at 320 calories, 9 grams of protein and 1,350 milligrams of sodium.
Starting to trace ground and VCC, and out of curiosity I wanted to see if the connector is similar to any PC Cards in my parts bin. While not an exact pin count match, the pin pitch matches IBM MCA exactly. This will make finding the correct connector for a test bench much easier

A really cool find from Discord member gageiro: A custom Mega CD BIOS made especially for Sonic Team's creative director Kazuyuki Hoshino! Check it out in action below!

@KazuyukiHoshino 星野さん、ご自身専用メガCD BIOS、覚えていますか?
Our nearest gas station now features a White Castle vending machine. White Castle is the latest midwestern fast food chain to enter the DFW market. It’s wildly overrated as demonstrated by the fact that a gas station vending machine can dispense it.
I’m over this summer.
Heat Advisory in effect today until 8 pm as the feels-like temperature could reach 106°! #txwx
The “untested” Master System I picked up at a thrift store in Alabama last week had a dead 7805, as I had predicted. A quick swap of the 7805 and it’s back in action! I keep a tube of 7805 regulators on hand for situations like this.
Spotted in rural Alabama. While I know this “untested” SMS will have a failed 7805 (they all seem to), for $50 it can come home to Texas with me for an easy repair.
Random fact - this particular CPU came out of a defective Dragon Saber arcade board many years ago. The ROM board was fine so I swapped the main board and ROMs with another Namco System II board. This CPU has quite the gaming pedigree!
Working on a proper burn-in of the new 68000 in the Genesis and this menu in F-22 Interceptor is haunting.
Swapped in a slightly faster 68000 into my Genesis. It’ll support a modest CPU speed increase in the future. I had an ST-branded 68000 in my parts bin so that’s what went in. It’s probably the only Genesis on the planet with this brand of 68000!
This Apple //e I’ve owned for years is now a turn-key games machine. I picked up a Rasp Pi-based boot card with the total replay image installed. Paired with the Fast Chip //e accelerator, it boots right into a games selection menu! I can dial in the CPU speed to suit the game.
When did the #32x get so expensive? This one was $30 from a video game store about 10 years ago.
