Has anyone outed as many key sources as Bob Woodward?
The first excerpt of my upcoming memoir, Secrets, is out in print in the @NewYorker. It is about Richard G. Darman, who was one of my important secret sources in the Reagan and Bush administrations—and my best friend. I write about some of the painful consequences of getting too close to a source and how it changed my approach to reporting.
Secrets is available for early preorder at the link or via @amazonbooks @BNBuzz @Target @Walmart @booksamillion

Um, so you want Israel to annex the “West Bank” and make them all citizens? Deal. But as long as Israel does not annex Judea and Samaria, there is zero reason why noncitizens there should vote in Israeli elections. Think harder and better.
The most laughably stupid Israeli hasbara line you’ll hear today: “Arabs can vote in Israel, so it can’t be apartheid.”
Now tell me: how can more than 700,000 Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, vote in Israeli elections, while Palestinians living in the same territory cannot?

We know “Eastern Europeans” is code for Jews. What’s code for Communists? “Ugandans”?
New Yorkers experience the abundant contributions of our Eastern European neighbors every day. As we pair syrniki with sour cream in Brighton Beach, look in wonder at a Chagall painting at MoMA and banter with babushkas in Rego Park.
Last week, we celebrated Eastern European heritage at Gracie Mansion, because the story of New York City cannot be told without the story of our Eastern European neighbors.
From new immigrants to those who've lived here for generations, Eastern Europeans have built New York City. We owe them a city they can afford to call home.
Election lawyer here. Israel runs model elections. They are secure, efficient, well administered, and nonpartisan. They facilitate voting my Arabs, Christians, various minorities, and Jews. Voting from abroad is not generally allowed, so many Israelis return home to vote. Identification is required to be shown in polling places to vote. Thomas Jefferson is beaming from the democratic heavens.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Apartheid.
More than 2 million Muslim Arabs will cast their votes today in Israel 🇮🇱 freely with the full protection of the law and rights they have.
More than a dozen of them will be sworn in as members of the new Knesset.
They are judges, soldiers in the IDF, policemen and women, and full citizens of the strongest Democratic Ally in the world.

Today, we announced that @intel has entered into an agreement to acquire @ClassiqTech, a recognized pioneer in quantum computing software and algorithms, based in Tel Aviv, Israel. This marks a transformational moment for Intel’s quantum computing group, as we establish a new Quantum Computing Business. With Classiq, Intel will become a full-stack quantum solutions provider and add QPUs to our already diverse compute platform portfolio spanning CPUs, GPUs and ASICs.
Super excited to welcome Nir Minerbi, Amir Naveh, Yehuda Naveh, and the talented Classiq team to Intel!

My values, my identity and my community are far more important to me than any individual election result. Regardless, it’s widely understood that I lost in my particular district for the same reasons this ad is repugnant, blatantly false, and incites even more violence against Jews.
And sadly, you consistently add fuel to this slanderous and anti-Jewish fire.
Regardless of where you stand on this election, it’s moving to see @gadi_eisenkot accompany former hostage Gadi Moses to his polling place to vote…in Kibbutz Nir Oz. On October 7th, 2023, one in four residents of Nir Oz were killed or taken hostage. After being massacred, Israelis rebuild their communities to flourish. One of many signs of Israel’s promise: the ballot box.

Today is election day in Israel, which is a national holiday. All voting is in person, ID required. No mail-in or absentee ballots. Arabs vote same as Israelis. Contentious process, but it's a democracy-not many of those in this region!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Arab voters are Israeli citizens. Listing them in contrast to Israelis is misconstruing the facts.

Not exactly the picture the American Left expects to see of Israeli voters! I’m looking at you, Mayor Mamdani. These are mostly Bedouin Arabs, I presume. Except for the IDF soldier, who also doesn’t look the stereotyped part Mamdani would have in mind.
In Israel? How is that possible? You mean Arabs vote in Israel but not in (name your Middle Eastern Arab monarchy)? Granted, there are several Arab countries where we are probably lucky no one votes. See, e.g., what happened when Egypt held a real election and elected a terrorist organization to run the country (didn’t last long).
What distinguishes a rule-of-law, democratic criminal justice system from a lawless, Third World, corrupt, authoritarian criminal justice system is that it does not choose its victims first, based on their perceived adversity to the regime, and then investigate to find a crime with which to charge them second.

We know Abdul El-Sayed won’t disavow Hasan “America deserved 9/11” Piker, but will he disavow the despicable ad produced by Piker’s uncle?
The ad is as transparent in its bigotry as it is devoid of facts.
In addition to Israeli intelligence and innovations helping keep the couple safe, and assuming they don’t work at a business that has made any of the hundreds of millions of dollars in Michigan goods sold to Israel each year, Israeli water and agricultural technology used in Michigan and across the United States may have helped grow the food at a lower cost in the first place.
The security assistance Israel receives to help confront our shared enemies and protect families from terrorists comprises less than 1/20th of 1% of the federal budget and is spent in the United States, employing thousands of American workers - including many in Michigan.
Vindication of the IDF’s evacuation of civilians to allow a safe search of the terror bastions in Hebron. As in Gaza, Israel should move civilians as often as needed to keep them as safe as possible while conducting searches for terrorist arms caches and hideouts. Of course, as long as terrorists hide among civilians intentionally, there will be tragic consequences. Failing to fight back against the terrorists is not a serious option.
Adjacent to the home of one of the Palestinian gunmen who carried out Friday's deadly shooting attack in the West Bank city of Hebron, IDF troops located an underground passageway, the military says.
The military says the tunnel found in Hebron had no exit, and is located deep within the West Bank city, not posing a threat to any Israeli settlements in the area.
The excavation is found to be approximately 15 meters deep and 75 centimeters wide, the army says.
Additionally, the IDF says that an "electronic device" found inside the tunnel was taken for investigation.
The military says the tunnel was found during scans of over 500 buildings and structures in Hebron, amid an ongoing operation in the neighborhood where the two gunmen lived.
The raid has displaced over 2,000 Palestinian residents of the area.
So far during the operation, the IDF says it has apprehended some 50 suspects for questioning, and seized just two guns.
