Did Trump's speech on January 6 incite violence? Yes. Data journalism piece led by @aleszubajak w/analysis of Parler from @uvmcomplexity Director @peterdodds & Data Artist @artistjaneadams contributes evidence for conviction: xitter.cf/girlsreallyrule/status…
House impeachment manager Rep. Diana DeGette cites this USA Today analysis that found mentions of 'civil war' "quadrupled on Parler in the hour after Donald Trump said 'show strength.'" usatoday.com/in-depth/news/2…

Think public transit “doesn’t work” as an alternative to cars where you live? If that’s true, it wasn’t unavoidable — it’s because of the choices your city made. Land-use, funding, infrastructure & operational decisions. If you get fundamentals like frequency wrong, it fails.

Not that this latest insanity deserves to be dignified with a response, but Pennsylvania voting machines all use or generate voter-reviewable paper ballots. There’s no way to alter the tally at scale without it being detected very quickly. inquirer.com/politics/pennsy…

.@CISAgov is really leaning into the idea of making @CISAKrebs its mascot. He ended his #CISASummit closing keynote by telling people to "get out there and vote" and then turned into a superhero.

Since World War II, the U.S. has set out to change governments in the Middle East an average of once per decade. In his new book, out today, Philip Gordon offers an insider's look at why these interventions always seem to go wrong. on.cfr.org/30G7fmV

Imagine Paris, but even better. Imagine a global model of “hyper-local” city building, championing the “15 Minute City” with cycle-lanes on every street by 2024, 60,000 on-street parking spaces transformed, etc. Via @WEF kudos @Anne_Hidalgo @CarlosMorenoFr

Did the news cycle really launch into warp speed when Trump was elected? Bigly. Our latest preprint: arxiv.org/abs/2008.07301

I can't help but see the irony that the Congressional reps are giving the #bigtech CEOs very little time to answer, precisely because they are trying to get soundbites that will go #viral on the platforms run by these same CEOs.

I see @realDonaldTrump is going after my former boss and long-time friend & colleague Colin Powell. Lots I could say; what I will say is that Colin Powell personifies what is best about this country: public service, honesty, courage, decency, character, giving back. Enough said.

Donald Trump has turned our country into a battlefield riven by old resentments and fresh fears. He thinks division helps him. I ask every American to look at where we are now, and think anew: Is this who we are? Is this who we want to be?

I’ve had a few folks reach out to me because of some of my employees’ comments in the media and on their social media apparently expecting me to censor them or take some action. Some general end of day stressed thoughts: (1/x)
