Hi folks. One of the groups that I am the tech lead has two network engineering positions available — based out of Atlanta. The group is responsible for rethinking how we define, test and deploy network devices. 1/3
You can read a bit about what the group has been working on over the last few years on my blog - or listen to my NANOG 90 keynote:

The roles are posted here;

Congratulations. Lars is awesome and we are really happy he joined @google to continue to drive new things :-)
I'll be presenting the Kirin #BGP attack in Singapore during @ASIACCS2024 in July.
Our joint paper with Lars @mydamnhandle1 and Oliver has been accepted!
The folks at NANOG posted the video of my talk last week -- youtube.com/watch?v=uOWxogW5…
I very much enjoyed giving a keynote at NANOG90 this morning, reflecting on the development of abstractions in networking -- and sharing some thoughts on the future of network automation. I posted the slides here: cdn.rob.sh/files/pondering-a… #nanog #nanog90
At this point, I am extremely biased towards ideas that come with some form of code. Doesn’t need to be production quality. Doesn’t need to handle the corner cases. But does need to show how you started to think about whether the idea you have is implementable.
Let me just say @HeathrowAirport absolutely sucks if you are celiac. No coffee place that has a milk marked GF. No options. Learn from @flySFO - where there is a dedicated GF place in the damn terminal.
In a reflective mood, I wrote a retrospective view on the open source environment I’ve been working on for the last few years. This work is what underpins the “reimagining” of network devices I have mentioned before. rob.sh/post/reimagining-netw…
Unfortunately, due to downturns in my health, I’m again on medical leave from Google. That does mean that I am not talking to very many people, so I’m open to donut/lunch ninja chats - let me know if you fancy one.
One of my favourite podcast series of the last couple
of years. @joshbakerstory does a masterful job of presenting information, and skilful investigation not spoon feeding opinion. The series is called “I am not a monster”.
Take some time to ask your colleagues how they are doing, and listen to the responses. Humanity, and empathy underpins team health — and it means a lot to those of us that have invisible struggles.

Funny to see VCs who generally rail against government intervention making the case for a bailout of Silicon Valley Bank now that there's an intervention that would directly help them and their friends.
Socialism for me, capitalism for thee.
"Values are what you do" - I really liked this heading from The Staff Engineer's Path, I wholeheartedly agree. Whilst the industry doesn't look great, individual engineers can demonstrate what *their* values are, and set the team's values by demonstrating what they find valuable.
When does the teaser interest rate on your technical debt expire? Pretty sure there are no 30Y fixed tech debt deals available these days.
Not sure what to make of this - jcc.sh/chatgpt-on-netconf-an… - apparently AI comments on which of my repos I am actively maintaining. It would be lovely if it could help with maintenance. :-)
