T-minus 3 days until @figma Config India!
In about 6 months, we're going to see a massive shift toward fully webgpu rendered websites. Just a few more ticks to get there.
I'm starting a new series of tweets, called #rawthoughts - yeah i know we dont use hashtags anymore... these are personal me things. its the way i started using twitter many years ago. i just said what i said and wasnt trying to influence. so, im gonna try to do one a day
As a 20+ year design engineer, i can say emphatically that AI enables designers to build great PROTOTYPES or small apps.
When @dhh talks about hand-written code being dead...I believe him. I believe this is mourning engineering as it was. But I don't think hand-written code === engineering. I think it was just how we did it.
An engineer thinks in systems, and ways that designers don't often think. I don't think coding is dead. I think it's changed. I value so much my engineers and I witness their talent on the daily, PAIRED with AI as well.
Long live engineering.

Making shader effects in @figma is hella powerful because, you prompt them with the Figma agent, hone in the effect sliders with additional prompts... and then you can just take that code and do things like make glitchy camera filters. (For you and your cat 🐈⬛)

It legit took 9 seconds to make this, not even exaggerating.
