Three weeks after OPP Detective Sergeant Jim Van Allen abandoned his duty in the Russell Williams investigation to make filthy money illegally investigating me on the side, Williams committed his first murder. On the night of November 23–24, 2009, Williams sexually assaulted and murdered Corporal Marie-France Comeau in her Brighton home. Van Allen worked the Comeau murder too. He had been involved from the beginning. He opened a “fresh file” after the September 17 Tweed attack, worked the hunt for the unknown predator, participated in the operation that wrongly targeted Williams’s next-door neighbour Larry Jones, and was now working the murder of Marie-France Comeau. Years later, Van Allen admitted that if DNA from Comeau’s murder had been quickly linked to the September Tweed sexual assault, it would have been a “tremendous eye-opener” and would have significantly advanced the investigation. He knew exactly what had been at stake during those critical weeks - yet on November 7, Van Allen illegally billed the lawyers $1,521.50, just 17 days before Marie-France Comeau was murdered on November 24. While Russell Williams was escalating from sexual assault to murder, the OPP’s top criminal profiler was dividing his time, attention and police resources between hunting Williams and making filthy money illegally investigating me for private lawyers. Marie-France Comeau was dead. And Williams was still free, about to murder again.
