Congratulations to Lorne Doerkson on becoming the 38th premier of British Columbia. British Columbians want to see a change in how the government operates and I pray for the new government's success in making the real change ordinary decent people have wanted to see for a long time. Good luck to the new government!

Went to school, got the job, did everything you were supposed to. Still ending up at the food bank. That’s not how it used to work. Broken Country looks at how we got here. brokencountry.com
“59% of food bank users have a post-secondary education. 50% have full-time employment… The social contract has been broken.” Millions of Canadians were lied to. They went to college, played by the rules, found full-time jobs only to discover that a paycheck no longer guarantees food on the table or a roof over their heads. A warning here for Americans as well. What happens to a country when doing everything “right” is no longer enough to build a decent life? That is a Broken Country... Broken Country is a new documentary examining how Canada went from one of the safest and most prosperous countries in the world to a nation struggling with an affordability crisis, homelessness, public disorder and a growing loss of faith in its institutions. Young Canadians are saying it out loud on the street. There aren’t enough jobs for the people already here. One says it’s hard for young people to see a path after graduation. Another says the people being brought in are taking a lot of the openings. A third points out that plenty of Canadians are unemployed while hiring practices stay strange. Youth unemployment has been climbing. Recent StatsCan numbers showed another 48,000 young people out of work in the latest drop. Full-time opportunities for recent graduates are thin. At the same time the government keeps expanding temporary foreign worker streams and student permits that feed into the labour market. The LMIA bar was lowered for higher-wage jobs. Employers no longer have to prove they tried Canadians first in those categories. The people in the video aren’t reading policy papers. They’re looking for work and not finding it. That is the result of running high immigration while the job market is already soft. Canadians first used to be the default. It isn’t anymore. #cdnpoli brokencountry.com

Fentanyl isn’t just another political issue to me. I lost my best friend to it. So when I hear overdose numbers, I don’t hear statistics. I think about the person who should still be here. The memories. The adventures. The life that was supposed to keep going. I understand addiction is complicated, but we cannot become comfortable simply managing this crisis while people keep dying. I want treatment. I want recovery. I want accountability for the people poisoning our communities. Most of all, I want fewer families learning this pain the way I did. brokencountry.com

Canada used to be high trust society. Politicians, judges and the media have destroyed that. Now many Canadians trust no one but their immediate family. They have done nothing but imported low trust third world immigrants all while telling us this is good for Canada. Broken Country explores this and so much more. brokencountry.com

20% of Canadians have no savings at all. 2.3M Food Bank Visits in March 2026 - highest on record. Household debt to GDP has been above 100% for over a decade. Canadians rely on borrowing and debt for food. Our wages cant keep up and inflation us. Yet were told affordability has never been better nor is it a crisis This is not a well functioning economy brokencountry.com

American friends — We made Broken Country to answer one question: what happened to Canada? A country that was the envy of the world is now a shell of itself. It didn’t happen by accident. It happened one bad policy at a time. Every one of those policies sounded good when it was sold. Mass immigration at a pace our housing, hospitals and wages couldn’t absorb. “Free” health care you wait months to actually use and increasingly are offered death instead of care. More programs, more promises, more government standing between people and their own lives. The result: separatist movements in three provinces, a generation that can’t afford a home, and a government insisting things have never been better. When I look south I see a country that isn’t perfect, but is thriving. With your midterms two weeks out, I’d ask you to look hard at three candidates running on the exact promises that took us down: Texas — James Talarico. On video calling capitalism an “oppressive system” that must be “dismantled.” Now he says he’s a capitalist. Texans should ask which one shows up in the Senate. Michigan — Abdul El-Sayed. Deleted thousands of posts before running. Told NBC his family had no Muslim Brotherhood ties; his own half-sister’s posts say otherwise. You can delete tweets. You can’t delete a record. Florida — Angie Nixon. A card-carrying member of the DSA, whose platform calls for defunding police and open borders. She says she disagrees with those parts. Then why join? We’ve lived where this road goes. If you want to see it for yourself, watch Broken Country at BrokenCountry.com. Don’t make Canada’s mistakes.

Crime feels different now. Catch-and-release and soft sentences make it worse, and a lot of people don’t feel they can protect themselves anymore. Broken Country looks at why. Worth a watch. brokencountry.com

Canadians are not as safe as they used to be. Our legal guns are being confiscated and we can no longer defend ourselves or our homes. I remember a time when we could leave our screen door open all night long in the summer time. Something so innocent seems like a death sentence now! How does a coutry that willingly pays immigrants to come here lose track of so many people? More than 500,000 have gone missing. Is it incompetence? Are these people coming here legally? Hamsterdam, The War on Drugs, and Canadian Lesson Just got to the part of @mjwerry's Broken Country that reminded me of any interesting story arc in The Wire. In season 3, police commander Bunny Colvin realizes that arresting dealers isn’t stopping Baltimore’s drug trade, so he creates three unofficial “free zones.” These are places where police tolerate drug buying and selling while aggressively going after anyone dealing outside the zones. The experiment becomes known as “Hamsterdam"—and it worked. Getting dealers off the corners stops the gang violence, and the neighborhood comes to life. Kids start playing outside again. Health workers distribute clean needles, provide testing, and connect some users with treatment. But inside Hamsterdam, addiction and desperation are concentrated into some truly dystopian shit. Hamsterdam didn't get rid of the suffering. It just moved it away from people who aren't "in the game" and don't want to be either. Now eventually it all blows up, but it raises an interesting question that Canada has accidentally answered. Since we have lost the war on drugs—i.e., we aren't gonna be able to stop the supply of or demand for drugs—should we just run damage control, a.k.a. "Harm Reduction?" Even if that means tolerating a place where addiction’s consequences remain painfully visible? Let's take a quick look at BC, Canada. Now it's not exactly Hamsterdam there, but they've got supervised consumption sites that provide places to use drugs under supervision along with "Safe Supply"—the government's version of drugs so you don't have to deal with your stuff being cut with garbage. Safer supply expanded in 2020. Gang-related homicide victims went from 24 in 2019 to 26 in 2020, 40 in 2021, and 53 in 2022. An initial rise, but then the direction reversed: 38 in 2023, 26 in 2024, and 19 in 2025. That’s a 64% decline from the peak. Between 2019 and 2025, recorded break-ins fell by 44%, vehicle theft fell by 41%, and total property crime fell by 19%. On the flip side, overdose deaths rose from 992 in 2019 to 2,591 in 2023, before falling to 1,828 in 2025. Even after that decline, deaths remained about 84% above the 2019 level. So is this a possible solution to the drug problem? Just let people do what they're gonna do, but only in certain places, and come down hard if they step out of the zones... Or has a country made a Faustian bargain disguised as progress? Broken Country explores this question along with many others about the state of Canadian politics. And if you're American, this is particularly relevant, as some states are attempting something like this. I had friends in high school whose parents operated a safe needle exchange. We used to take chances and celebrate people who built something. Now we tear them down and make it harder to just get ahead. Broken Country digs into how that shift happened. No spin, just what Canadians are actually living through. Worth a watch if you’ve felt the same thing. brokencountry.com
"We don't celebrate our winners we try to tear them down." I recently watched the documentary BROKEN COUNTRY & it was eye-opening & a chilling warning for the West. I have many friends in Canada & have visited several times. I love Canada, but something has to change or it'll be completely unrecognizable soon. Watch this film BROKEN COUNTRY. It's not some propaganda piece. It simply states facts. Make up your own mind. I'm praying & rooting that Canada doesn't just become a cautionary tale to the rest of the West. WHAT HAPPENED TO CANADA ???? SIMPLE -> 11+ years of open borders and Liberal policy. • Streets full of tents, needles, and people who never should’ve been here • Crime that used to be rare is now routine in every major city • Healthcare waitlists that kill people while we import more demand • Housing no one can afford because we flooded the market • Food banks busier than ever while we keep the doors wide open This isn’t an accident. It’s the result. HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH YET?? #cdnpoli
