Just want to end this remarkable fourth session of the historic Connecticut Citizens' Assembly on Property Taxes on another, and more complete, celebratory note for our stellar #AI team (since I had to delete the first tweet where I inadvertently disclosed sensitive information). Heartfelt thanks to @MIT graduate students @sulekhakishore, who led the difficult task of turning hours of citizen deliberations into a digestible report overnight (she didn't sleep!); @CassandraOvern1 from the Center for Constructive Communication, who designed the tool we used, called VoiceTrace, and was handling things online; and @LukeThorburn_ , who also came all the way from Cambridge just to help. Thanks also to all the @Yale undergrad and grad student volunteers who were the other "humans in the loop" late into the evening, including Shao Lee, Zavian Valedon, Dani Klein, Thalsa-Thiziri Mekaouche and Gryffin Wilens-Plumley. @Uconn prof Michael Morrell and I were also there for a while, mostly for moral support and the learning experience.

It's always great to see our partners in person! Dr. Roseanne Scammahorn connected with Dr. Nicole Summers-Gabr, SRDC TOAC member, at the Collaborative Pathways for Community Development Research networking event in Memphis, TN. We appreciate Dr. Summers-Gabr's service!

It's going great so far! 99 citizens showed up out of the 103 we expected at this point in the process. Incredible energy in the room. After some intros, icebreakers, and a key vote on self-governance, Joe Delong, CCM executive director, is getting into the meat of the issue. He's explaining the drivers of property taxes and in passing takes a jab at @Yale for not paying taxes on the beautiful lecture hall we are having this conversation in :) #ctcitizensassembly

I’m making a list of independent, high-quality impact evaluations (completed or in progress) of products/services marketed to law enforcement and other public safety agencies. I will make the list public. I hope this will support agencies in deciding which products are worth their money, and encourage vendors to engage in such evaluations. If you’re working on such a study, do let me know! My email address is on my website.

Before I knew @om, he was a true titan in the industry. As someone who started my career in journalism, he was someone I admired deeply and who paved the way for others to think with an entrepreneurial mindset. I feel fortunate to have later known him. We will miss you.

In the old USSR, people could be arrested for photographing bridges, tunnels, etc. A repressive and paranoid regime assumed the photographers must be spies and saboteurs. Americans laughed at such petty tyranny. Nothing like that could happen in their free country! Until now.

Memorial Day is an essential reminder that our 250-year-old democracy is a treasure worth protecting. We owe it to the sacrifice of those who gave what President Lincoln called “the last full measure of devotion” to not only honor them, but to renew our commitment to the republic for which they stood.

On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to the brave men and women in uniform who gave their lives for this country that we love. It is a debt we can never fully repay, but we must never stop trying. I’ll always be grateful to our fallen heroes and their families, whose sacrifice reminds us of what it means to live for something greater than ourselves.

I love seeing the bipartisan traction these conversations are getting. Let’s solve more crimes, faster!
Too many violent crimes go unsolved. Forensic DNA is changing that, and innovations like forensic genetic genealogy are expanding what's possible. This #NationalPoliceWeek, we convened a conversation on how to bring these tools to more communities. We're committed to helping states adopt and rigorously evaluate them. Thank you to @TrentMcCotter and @DOJ for being part of this important discussion, we look forward to continued partnership to make communities safer.

Are you alive today? If you didn’t die from COVID, HIV/AIDS, Ebola, SARS, swine flu, anthrax, tuberculosis, malaria, or other diarrheal diseases, you have the great Dr. Tony Fauci to thank.

This error was REPEATED in both the July and November efforts to terminate TPS for Haiti, even though DHS was on notice of its mistake. I wrote two expert declarations addressing this egregious error. They had the first one before the November notice, but didn't fix the mistake.
There is a **massive** error in the TPS Haiti revocation notice in the Federal Register. Secretary Noem (and @USCISJoe) included this false claim about Haitian illegal entries. These numbers include LEGAL entries at ports of entry. Border Patrol arrests FELL 90% from 2022-2024!
