I also think the idea of endgame Gold/Silver being a grind is silly considering the game's pretty heavy life simulator elements. It's designed around you NOT grinding for hours on end, it's practically begging you to take it slow and do each day as it comes

This is an HGSS exclusive thing but the whole reason they added Gym Leader rematches is to facilitate this! You're not supposed to fight level 40 wild encounters until your brain melts you're supposed to find Brock in the overworld and then spam call him

There's genuine criticisms to give it but most people on here are just obsessed with the idea that you're supposed to be at equal footing with the enemy trainers level-wise, which isn't true especially late-game and especially in older entries

My issue has always been that it's just a slog and a fun-killer for the period where nothing goes up in level because it lasts WAY too long, it's somehow worse than Kanto even though that game feels way more open-ended in its midgame The actual level spike is fine

Adding on with more 'I thought this was obvious' details, the bowl is for younger kids. A 5-year old isn't gonna go run to the bathroom in time and a really wide bowl is easier to use than a bag or something. Obviously now I go puke in the toilet but not as a kid!

Even if this wasn’t ignoring the 3 other electric-type options Hoenn has I think the game not giving a ton of the best offensive answer to the type that makes up half of the game is probably an intentional choice on some level

These things can also have non-gameplay reasons, Hoenn lacks Ice types because it wouldn't fit the region outside of one specific place (there's an argument for that applying to Sinnoh Fire types but I think it's a lot more shaky there)
