They "don't exist", yet "they are." Hmm, sounds contradictory. Wouldn't it be more correct to say industries do exist, but emerge as socially constructed (real) entities? (Which I reckon noone would deny).

I read concerning stories of pre-tenure profs who:
(1) must wait 6-12 months to get decisions from journals, possibly at each round of review
(2) while facing higher expectations in terms of publication count during their tenure track
This is neither fair nor sustainable:
