Council worker sues for discrimination after he was made redundant three days before his 55th birthday - costing him his 拢350k pension
Lee Henley, 57, worked for Thurrock Council for 35 years and was made redundant on 22 July 2024, three days before his 55th birthday.
That timing meant he missed out on an immediate full pension worth around 拢350,000.
The council was effectively bankrupt with 拢1.5 billion in debt and shortened the consultation period while he was on holiday.
An employment tribunal dismissed his age discrimination claim, finding the shorter process applied to everyone and granting the pension would have cost frontline services more than 拢350,000.
So this is what loyal service gets you!

What if Ghosts try to kill you only because they want you as a friend? You ever think about that? No. You only think about yourself...
Just because you are a sub16 5k runner doesn't mean you can do that at XC , sometimes it's the slower 5k that thrive doing XC
This is my own opinion
It's XC time 馃榿 there's a contingent of LWAC going to Graves Park, Sheffield for some XC relay action
My father was never proud of me.
One day he asked me, "How old are you?" I said, "I'm five"
He said, "When I was your age, I was six."
My wife came home incoherent last night. She'd only been on the non-alcoholic wine!!!
She was Schloering her words...
