You should be worried when you are diverted up a road called “High Level”… but you don’t get the views without the hills – and there were some great views at the top.
It was also great to see so many up country license plates along the Kleinmond coastline. #HangklipMarathon.
The Western Cape is blessed with the best marathons in the world. #HangklipMarathon is another to add to your bucket list. Marathon #319 (Unique #195) & lovely to participate in inaugural edition. Nine people ran 4:36 today. I can confirm that I was one of them.

Managed to keep my perfect winning record at club quiz nights before a marathon (even without the assistance of @RefJK). With one of our team members under 18, I scored an extra bottle of See Rowers wine – they are doing the last table at the tomorrow’s Hangklip Marathon so may
well do some tasting. Hopefully this doesn’t prevent me from hitting my goal time of 4:36.

The 5km dog’s leg just after the halfway mark of the Fancourt Marathon allows one to check out who to chase and who is chasing you. I like the reframing as a “High 5 Zone”.

After #JiggleGate the previous week, I thought I was experiencing some next level trolling when Stu-Dog posters appeared at the turnaround point of the Fancourt Marathon. I have been disappointed with the recent quality of trolling but this would have been particularly impressive
as I had only entered the race on Wednesday, booked my flights on Thursday and the only other people who knew I was running were David Case and my wife.
Turns out the real Stu-Dog – Stuart “you can run but you can’t” Hyde - was just behind me. Stu-Dog’s friends think that he
needs to mix it up with a little cross-training and find a girlfriend but I will do a separate post on that.
Even more important that outing the cheaters is to #FindStuADate!

I believe that this is what they call a rubber plantation. Looks like this year’s harvest is coming along nicely.
[Did ask and it turns out that there is manure underneath the plastic sheeting to create a greenhouse effect for faster composting.]
