This is a pure weasel answer. Just admit you're raising PR targets against the will of the majority of Canadians. Have the courage to say it and defend it. Let's have the discussion.
PM Carney defends plan to give permanent residency to 200,000 temporary residents: "They are members of the community...They are in many respects, in all respects, permanent residents of the country and we're formalizing that"

The PM is trying to call govt spending “investment” to hide the recklessness of the debt he’s loading onto the next generation. No other nation in the world uses these weird ‘operating’ and ‘net debt’ distinctions to hide fiscal failure.
Imagine if you could reduce your debt by dividing it onto three credit cards! Well Mark Carney says today you can.

Budget 2026 with Jack Mintz: Forget destiny. First we need to be masters of our own debt. The world is as volatile as the finance minister warns, which means we need to get our debts, deficits and interest charges down. financialpost.com/opinion/fp…

750,000 new people, that's 3 cities the size of Saskatoon. Where are they going to live. Where are they going to work. Who is going to teach the children, in what schools. Where are they going to get health care. They'd need 10 hospitals filled with Doctors, nurses, equipment like MRI's. The wait times for health in Canada can be a year, is the government trying to push that to 2 years. Why are the liberals so intent on bringing in new people when this country has lots of homeless people now. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE RUNNING THIS COUNTRY. I'D me trying to fix the issues we have now and not create more stress on an already over stressed community system.
🚨 BREAKING: Carney’s budget targets 750,000 immigration admissions annually for 3 years. 380,000 permanent 370,000 temporary arrivals 200,000 extra status conversions That’s roughly a Winnipeg a year. Can our housing and healthcare keep up?

A stunning failure of a left-wing government, or perhaps its pinnacle achievement. #LPC

No, I think that's why he's doing it. I also don't think he understands why turning Canada into a cultureless, deracinated, no-middle-class economic zone would be a bad thing.
Replying to @TristinHopper
Any thoughts as to why Carney is doing this ? It can’t simply be to artificially juice GDP numbers temporarily, surely he sees the collateral damage and destruction of our youths futures.

Typical banker. Import taxpayers and new mortgage borrowers. Erode wages. Maintain the leash. Power play.
BREAKING: Canada's Carney’s government has released its 2027–29 immigration plan: - 380,000 new permanent residents a year - 370,000 new temporary residents a year (workers and students) - Up to 348,000 more people already in Canada moved to permanent status through one-time programs Combined, that could push permanent resident admissions well past the record of about 485,000 set in 2024, per CBC

Canada, or rather Canadians under 50 years old. By now, it should be painfully clear that this government is actively working against your interests.
The Carney government's new immigration figures are them telling you, as clearly as they possibly can, that your simple desire to live in a country with competitive wages, affordable housing and accessible publuc services can get fucked.
