Diversify the curriculum all you want. Even refer to it as "decolonizing the curriculum" but at least don't claim this alone transforms material conditions of domination if the pedagogy used & knowledge attained is not praxis-oriented. You can't read your way out of coloniality.

The adaptation of the settler state means it no longer denies the past but "recognizes" it, makes it visible and contain it safely in the past to disavow its continuity in the present. This form repeats itself: visibility --> containment --> disavowal

If you give someone a fish they'll eat for a day. But if you teach someone to conduct workshops on how hungry people can practice self-care then you dodge the question of why people are hungry while also cutting the fish budget and the savings can be passed on to the shareholders

As an academic, I work at an "institute of higher education" not an "institute of higher publication." Research and publications are important. But, even more important is teaching students and mentoring researchers. We need a reward structure that reflects those priorities.

Idk who needs to hear this but quantitative methodologies are not “unbiased” or “objective”. Everything from the measures you choose to include or NOT include, as well as the variables/constructs you control for (or choose to not pay attention to), expose your biases.

Super hot take: We should NOT assume graduate students know ANYTHING about research design, research methods, methodology or the mechanics of doing research even if/when they get accepted to a graduate program. That is, don't assume undergraduates know how to do research.
