It’s been 20 years since Kristian Matsson debuted as the Tallest Man On Earth. Today, the indie-folk singer-songwriter begins a new chapter with his third LP for ANTI-. ‘Just Beyond Endless Mountain,’ which Matsson self-produced, was inspired by his return to Dalarna in central Sweden, where he grew up. There in the countryside, he reconnected with the local folk music he’d left behind to explore the sounds of American primitivism. The result is a richer, more expansive approach shaped by traditional Swedish melodies and instrumentation. He even picked up a fiddle again.
