when you think about it, Andrew probably "moved on" from the story thinking that William, the man who killed him and countless others, came back stronger than ever. he probably felt so guilty, thinking it was his fault William "got out" because he decided to let go

Andrew is already punished for not letting William go, that's what the epilogues are. torturing William back and fighting to keep control didn't make Andrew feel better and it didn't fix the past. he doesn't need ANOTHER punishment for something that someone else caused
