I'm Sam! I was a staff writer on Madagascar: A Little Wild (DreamWorks) & Bugs Bunny Builders (WB) & freelance writer on many others: (Baby Shark, Mecha Builders, Polly Pocket, etc). Help us continue to make shows you & your littles love! #StandWithAnimation
@animationguild
Let’s remind everyone that their favorite animation is made by us—human animation workers! Post a pic or illustration of yourself, include your job & favorite series or movies you’ve worked on & tag TAG so we can share! Thanks Hannah Partlow for this graphic. #StandWithAnimation

PBS Kids Animation writers deserve the same compensation as their live-action writer peers.
In letters delivered to management across the negotiating table on 10/29, @PBS writers demanded management give them the respect - and union protections - they’ve earned. #UnionStrong

Animation writers deserve the same protections and wages as their live-action colleagues! We’re fighting to get union coverage for PBS writers on shows like Molly of Denali and Cyberchase. #PBSWritersUnited

I’m fighting for a PBS union contract with fair pay for ALL PBS writers because writing for PBS is writing for PBS, no matter if it’s animation or live-action. #PBSWritersUnited @WGAEast @WGAWest

WGA members at Sesame Workshop are prepared to strike. 🪧
The unit voted UNANIMOUSLY - with 100% participation - to authorize a strike if management does not reach a fair new contract before their current agreement expires this Friday, April 19.

Sam is an amazing writer, teacher and collaborator!
Also, it is basically the holidays.
✨I'm available for work! ✨Open to development, freelance, staff & story editor roles. Credits in preschool, bridge, & kids 6-11 in animation, & I've been developing a fun series at Mattel for a year+. Let's grab coffee so we can both nod and say "it's basically the holidays!"

Personal testimony from animation writer @sambissonnette on the expectations that studios have that freelancers come prepared, but without wanting to pay for it. #FreelanceNotFreeWork

We did it. We have a tentative deal.
Over the coming days, we'll discuss and vote on it, together, as a democratic union. But today, I want to thank every single WGA member, and every fellow worker who stood with us in solidarity. You made this possible. Thank you. #WGAStrong

A common misconception about #animation writers is that we get to be ✨CREATIVE✨
I am *commissioned* to write within my employer's guidelines. I have to take time to learn my employer's needs and universe. Reasonably, a contractor should charge for the time of this labor.
✊ With animation writing staffs becoming more and more rare, freelancers need to stand up for themselves and stand together. #FreelanceNotFreeWork
I love writing for animation! I'm grateful to do what I love for a living. At the same time, it's undervalued. Animation writers do so much more than just open a blank page and type. We should be paid for all of the work we do to make a script great. #FreelanceNotFreeWork
Writing a freelance script is JUST AS MUCH, if note MORE, work than writing a script while staffed. So why are we making so much less doing it?? Charge for prep work and negotiate above minimums! Studios need to pays us for the work we do. #FreelanceNotFreeWork

I‘ve said this before, we had to fight to get a writers room for Kipo. That was in 2017 & we got it. I had hoped that would be part of a trend of more writers rooms on animated shows but it turned out to be the opposite. We need to save writing as a career. #FreelanceNotFreeWork
What happens when writer's rooms stop staffing and turn to a freelance-only model? You guessed it, the writers lose out. Freelancers get paid half as much as what a staff writer makes for writing the EXACT same script. Check the numbers and spread the word. #FreelanceNotFreeWork

Pro tip! In The Animation Guild contract "freelance" is refered to as "unit rates." #FreelanceNotFreeWork
