The world definitely needed another show with two white guys and more of my Boston sports bias. So @JLinni and I made one. The Colosseum Ep. 1 is live. Yankees × Apollo, Tennessee's Neyland plans, McAfee's kicking contest, and our first Field Test. Built for the group chat.

NEW: More MLB players have sold a piece of their future earnings than you'd think... Industry sources say private funds have already signed an estimated 10-15% of MLB roster players to these types of deals. Now fans can get in too, starting at $100. @zachkurtz12, co-founder & CEO of @agentiqsports, stepped into the Arena 🏟️👇

"The anti-gambling app" 🎯🙌 Today's world is so skewed to immediate gratification. Betting companies are plastered everywhere and it's sad to see what's happening to society because of it. Agentiq isn't a parlay you win or lose by the 4 o'clock slate. They're building a new asset class around long-term investing instead. Player baskets (like ETFs) could be coming next too...

Per usual, @CBS had half the NFL slate today, and Jim Nantz almost broke his wrist mid-broadcast testing out a peanut punch on @JJWatt. The company behind it (@Skydance) just closed a $110B deal for @wbd. And it came down to David Ellison calling his old man asking for just a couple more billion. The phone call we all wish we could have. New ep of The Colosseum w/ @JLinni 👇

And in more recent news: the @valkyries took Game 1 of the @WNBA Finals on Saturday. Year two. First women's pro sports team to reach $100M in annual revenue. 50 straight home sellouts and counting. Joe Lacob plugged them right into the @warriors machine with capital, infrastructure and a passionate fan base. No surprise the wins came this fast.

As we head into a great sports stretch across football, baseball and hoops, one company more fans should know: @Fastbreakai 🗓️ They’re the scheduling engine behind many of the biggest leagues and are now scaling youth sports too. Huge ups to @johnStewart_FB and the team.

Replying to @Rivals
@Rivals now wants high school athletes to pay to get "officially" scouted and given stars ⭐. We know college sports recruiting is big business. But is a star rating worth paying for? We got into it on Ep. 3 of The Colosseum 👇

Stars used to mean everything, from who recruited you to how much you "could" make (maybe not legally)! My take: marketability isn't tied to stars anymore. It's tied to your following. Some athletes that double as creators can move the bottom line more off the field than between the lines...

On Ep. 2 of The Colosseum, we broke down @ouraring's impending IPO at ~$15.6B valuation (~$2.2B raise). Then they hit the pause button. Right after the roadshow, with the order book reportedly 4x oversubscribed... and after we filmed 🙄. So why walk away from a major liquidity event for early investors? Let's dust off the old iBanker hat and theorize a bit... 👀🧵

2) The valuation question. Is Oura an AI health platform or a subscription ring company? If it's an AI-enabled platform, $15.6B makes sense. If it's consumer hardware, that's a tougher sell. And sales still lean heavily on the ring. Just ask Fitbit (now @googlehealth) and @onepeloton...

3) Not in a rush. Oura doesn't need the cash. As CEO Tom Hale put it, "we have the luxury of choosing our moment." h/t @agarfinks and @WilliamCohan for the A+ reporting - two of the best in the biz. Watch Ep. 2 of The Colosseum here👇 youtube.com/watch?v=_bYQdNZM…
