Except for Bryan Johnson. AI won't touch him.
NOT GOOD NEWS i was skeptical but have also now unfortunately done the work and seen the math and based on research and conversations with people in almost every major AI company... ...have come to the conclusion with 100% certainty that we are all going to die. The evidence shows especially those since 2022 that has been using AI as well as over 70% of the ones NOT even using AI; as well as at least 50% of the ones using AI for images, and 100% of the ones using AI agents, will also die and not survive. i cannot say if it is in 5 years or 50 but it is irrefutable––by even the skeptics who might want to disagree with this or accuse me of doom mongering––every body reading this is going to die with 100% certainty. not good news, i know.

What book is this from? Is it a book about Russell or about Wittgenstein? I'd love to find a good book about Wittgenstein (his own writing is, according to everyone, brilliant...but IMO illegible).

Estes Energy Solutions emerged from stealth and plans to bring large-scale magnesium thixomolding to the US 🇺🇸 Thixomolding long stayed under ~5 kg. Chinese programs are already trying to scale bigger. @estesenergy targets a US giga-thixo machine at roughly 30 kg per shot, one part per minute, for the first half of 2027. The idea is to build a monocast thermo-structural magnesium battery module that is structure, heat path and high-voltage enclosure. Coolant channels cast into the structural skin. Proprietary alloy and coating tackle flammability and corrosion. They are securing US/allied feedstock and domestic manufacturing for supply security. Founded 2024 by Tesla/Sila/Cummins engineers. $11M seed co-led by BMW i Ventures and Fortescue. Target: mass-constrained high duty cycle applications — rail, marine, aviation, Class 8. Non-cell mass is the new ceiling for battery packs. A lighter structural metal formed as one load-bearing shell is the direct response proposed by Estes which aims to scale the process in America to deliver it. 📰Full article: industryarsenal.com/p/estes-… ❌ Don't leave your insights to chance with the X algorithm ✅ Subscribe for free to my weekly newsletter about all things Gigacasting and magnesium Thixomolding: industryarsenal.com 📬

Anthropic wants to know about staying private after you're a $1 trillion company.
Staying private until you're a $1T company is unAmerican.

Look at the battery companies' profits too. CATL made $7.1 billion in 2024 and clearly beat that in 2025 (q4 still TBD). CATL has the largest R&D effort in the battery industry and I've heard employs more Ph.D.'s then there are electrochem Ph.D.'s in the entire U.S.
How much left for R&D? Chinese Automaker Profits / 2025 BYD: $4.5B SAIC: $2.2B Geely: $1.8B Leapmotor: $25 million Xpeng: Negative NIO: negative for year (Q4 profit of $100m) Comps: Toyota: $31.5 billion GM: $12.7 billion BMW: $8.1 billion

If you're a young adult optimizing for high impact in the world. Do manufacturing. It's not sexy, but it’s the backbone of nearly every meaningful industry.

All my heart is with the family of Tamir Nimrodi today. He was taken hostage on October 7th and then murdered. His body was returned yesterday. He was a good friend to my daughter and a good man.

We don't publish much about @magratheametals' technology pilot work because it's highly need-to-know with external stakeholders. However I'm gosh-darn gobsmacked by what our team has pulled off and I'm going to brag about them now.

On specs alone, the SU7 is comparable to a Model S. That makes it comparable to a Taycan. On price it’s in the Model 3 range. Don’t freak out about everything from China. But this car is freak-out-worthy. Just ask Jim Farley.
this car isn't even close to a porsche taycan. if people were honest they'd do side by side comparisons but of course that breaks the narrative.

The more Chinese car reviews I watch, the more I want to short the entire Western car industry. With the Xiaomi SU7 you get: •Ferrari-level exterior design (basically a Purosangue rip-off) •German-level interior finish •Tesla-like performance, range, and UX All for 50% less than any competitor. Last month I drove an Xpeng G9 and it made a model Y look like a cheap android phone. Meanwhile, the EU is still debating whether air conditioning is fascist or not.

Yesterday should have been the worst summer electricity emergency in Texas history. But ERCOT has changed in the last two years. Wholesale pricing at $20/MWH! This is what happens when dozens of GW of new solar and batteries enter a grid. And it's only just begun.
One of the hottest days of the year so far in Texas: 53% of the power on peak is coming from solar & wind. Wholesale power is ~$20 per megawatt-hour or 2 cents per kilowatt-hour. No conservation calls, no energy emergencies. ~20 gigawatts of extra power just sitting around.

With the imposition of the 93% AD-CVD tariffs on any graphite from China announced today, it becomes much harder to make an affordable battery in America, unless you know where to score some U.S.-made graphite (you can't; it doesn't exist yet and might not for 3 more years).
