Meeting Steve Albini and working with him changed the course of my life. He taught me so much about music, and life. Steve was a great friend - wise, kind and generous. I am so grateful.
My thoughts are with him and his family and friends as we suffer his loss.

"I knew Steve Albini, who has died at just 61, as a kind, patient and accommodating engineer, committed to the truest possible representation of live sound," writes Professor of Music @samkbennett (@ANUmedia).

The Specials were a celebration of how British culture was envigorated by Caribbean immigration but the onstage demenour of their lead singer was a reminder that they were in the serious business of challenging our perception of who we were in the late 1970s. RIP Terry Hall

It's a welcome sight to see folks with many of the same conclusions I have regarding music colonialism. The intro here are by Maya Cunningham, Dylan Robinson, Chris Stover, Leslie Tilley, and Anna Yu Wang.

Just noticing I've needed to update the <DAW, Music Production, and Colonialism, a Bibliography> with pieces posted in the original thread. Also been noticing how a lot of these issues mirror ones brought up in the Cultural Imperialism Thesis in the 80s.
