I used to cover barracks issues extensively. The posts would get a lot of attention, and the fallout resulted in troops being punished and forced to clean the building into the late hours of the night for having the audacity to raise the issue to an audience other than the chain of command who had ignored them up until that point. I stopped only because the posts didn’t bring lasting resolution and brought more harm to the soldiers than good.

Today I walked around the AUSA convention and got to see the new innovation and tech leading the way in our defense industry. I talked to several industry leaders about what they're doing with AI in intelligence, and one of the drone demonstrations was truly incredible to witness. There were hundreds of examples of tech that would easily convince anyone we are unmatched in military superiority. And we are, of that I make no argument against. Despite the numerous health and fitness displays, I couldn't help but think about how the human aspect was lacking. Care for the warfighter, our service-members who lace up their boots every day and train and fight to protect our way of life, is lacking. It's not that well intentioned leaders aren't aware of it and working to improve it, but the defense industry has no need to invest in the human capital of how our troops live. The priority follows where the money leads. The initiative to provide adequate living conditions, good food and portions, and a framework that will truly mete out justice and reprieve for crimes committed, continues to lag drastically behind the standard we as every day citizens have come to expect. Again, despite the best intentions of many of our senior leaders, it's simply not the priority. "Suck it up" reigns supreme. In a country where only 23% of our 17-24 yr old population is eligible for military service, the rinse and repeat cycle of 4 year enlistments can only survive so long, and the number one reason troops leave military service is because of these exact reasons. I would love to be a part of the solution. I would love to drive innovation and turn some of our defense budget into a solution that provides these basic necessities by incentivizing industry leaders to innovate and invest on behalf of our troops. We can only kick the can down the road for so long. Yes, AI is automating much of the military that is prone to human error on the battlefield, but until we're nothing more than robots, we have to continue investing in the wellbeing and longevity of our warfighters. First and most important SOF Truth: "Humans are more important than hardware."

Happened to be in town, so I decided to check out my first AUSA event. Pretty cool.

I have an opinion, but I spent too much time in the strike cell to weigh in on a live feed of a public execution. Watched and contributed to far too many.

Wait…so less than two weeks after the news reports that Lieutenant Colonel Long is conducting an investigation into the health surveillance database at the appointment of @secwar and @RobertKennedyJr, a senator blocks her promotion to Colonel? Holy shit! Talk about congressional interference!

Oh the irony….

Amazon’s Fire tablet for kids is supposed to be as kid friendly as they come. We use them for our children to do homeschool and play age appropriate games. Imagine my surprise when my wife just sent me this. If she wasn’t constantly monitoring what they’re watching and interacting with, this kind of stuff would go under the radar and just be another drive by example of the constant bombardment of filth our kids get hit with daily. Apparently if you’re not Amish in 2026, you can’t escape it.

Meanwhile I’m over here getting fake emails and texts trying to get me to click links wondering when I’m going to get scammed like this…

“Babe, I don’t know.” Ladies, we weren’t given a special script that explains what’s happening on TV. We’re both watching the same thing at the same time. I have a sneaking suspicion we’ll find out what’s going on within the next 2 hours though. 🤷‍♂️

Some of my military friends are out eating tacos on TDY right now, and my morale went through the roof hearing that. Taco Tuesday belongs to GWOT military culture, and it will always remind me of better memories. 🌮🫡🦅

I don’t think any of us are ready for the extreme rights and lefts that are coming up in the younger generations.

Not everyone who goes through Airborne school gets to do the 250ft towers. Not long after I did mine, a parachute collapsed in the ring leaving the jumper hanging 250ft off the ground by their safety line. That shut down the towers for the rest of our cycle. I’m glad I didn’t see that before I went up, lol.
