WHAT A MATCH!
18 year-old Victoria Mboko defeats former Wimbledon champ and world #11 Elena Rybakina 1-6, 7-5, 7-6(4) to reach the Montreal final.
Almost three hours.
1st career tour-level final, at a WTA 1000.
Rybakina served twice for the match and had a MP.
Unreal.

Madame Vice President you ran a great campaign. In 107 days you introduced yourself to the American people and defined what disqualified your opponent. You raised a billion dollars within a matter of days and put together a coalition of the most diverse group of American citizenry. You presented a measure of hope and optimism while displaying intelligence and discipline. You were pragmatic, deliberate, insightful, inspiring, and positive. You were the epitome of a political scientist and your campaign left everything on the field. You were our last best hope for an American aesthetic that millions of us are in pursuit of. I am honored to have been a part of this campaign and I look forward to working with you further to protect our democracy and form a more perfect union. May the ancestors give you enlightenment. May God continue to bless you all the days of your life. Thank you for your service.

The Mountaintop
We lift every voice and sing — The name of a Black Woman who stood at the mountaintop. With audacity that reflected off the glass ceilings that shattered when you spoke her name.
Kamala Devi Harris. You stood. Standing in the spirit of Shirley Chisolm, Unbought, Unbossed and Undenying.
You dreamed. The girl who would not be deferred and went on to write a letter to the world with a signature that now reads — It’s Possible.
It’s Possible for a Black girl from Oakland, California, to see the mountaintop. And when she gets there to take the world off her shoulders and sit. Sitting in the resilience of Fannie Lou Hammer, you took the world by Storm. Never going Rouge and letting anyone take you out of character.
You laughed. You filled rooms with hope and integrity and lit paths with perseverance. You opened. Doors that had been closed. You stepped — Over walls that had been built.
You climbed. The Mount Everest of expectations with a smile that sat at the intersection of joy and justice. Because a country built in spite of you, you stood in spite of.
You are the embodiment of what can be, unburdened by what has been. Rest in the knowing that you are ours.
We thank you for the view from your moutaintop.

After discussing Trump, Badenoch & eulogising Paul Stephenson we needed to something to laugh about. That thing turned out to be me & my new beanie. @carysafoko called me a hipster. Fighting talk. I’m sticking with it even if it does feel like a mid-life crisis on my head

104 years ago on November 2-3, during Election Day in 1920, the single bloodiest day in modern America political history happened, The Ocoee Massacre.
A black man attempted to vote & the Ku Klux Klan responded with rampage that led to the exile/death of every black person that lived there
—The dark day in Florida's history escalated after one Black citizen tried to exercise his right to vote at a polling location but was turned away on Election Day.
Mose Norman, who had been part of the voter registration drive in Orange County, decided to vote in the national election on November 2. When he attempted to do so, twice, he was turned away from the polls.
When Norman was driven away the second time, a white mob, then numbering over 100 men, decided to hunt him down. Concluding he had taken refuge in the home of another local Black resident, Julius “July” Perry, they rushed Perry’s home hoping to capture both men there. Norman escaped and was never found while Perry defended his home, killing two white men, Elmer McDaniels and Leo Borgard, who tried to enter through the back door. The mob called for reinforcements from Orlando and surrounding Orange County. Eventually they caught and killed Perry and hung his dead body from a telephone post by the highway from Ocoee to Orlando to intimidate other potential Black voters. Perry’s wife, Estelle Perry, and their daughter were wounded during the attack on the Perry home. They were sent to Tampa by local law enforcement officers.
The mob then turned on the Black community of Ocoee.
Homes and properties of Black families were scorched, burnt to the ground. At least four Black individuals were confirmed killed -- one of which was lynched, his body hanging from a tree limb for all to see.
On June 21, 2019, a historical marker honoring July Perry and others killed in the massacre was placed in Heritage Square outside the Orange County Regional History Center.

Just because Donald Trump acts goofy doesn’t mean his presidency wouldn’t be dangerous. And you don’t have to take my word for it. Lately, some of the people who know Trump the best have been saying in no uncertain terms that he should not be president again.
