i'm sorry but the japanese were literally singling out immigrants and muslims, pushing racist and xenophobic narratives because they were offended that a fictional anime flag was being used as a symbol of resistance, and dismissing why people were protesting in the first place. so why are we reframing the whole thing as if the french and everyone else just got petty for no fucking reason?

For context there have been protests in France because of the lack of funding and support for education systems. A bunch of racist Japanese people saw some French people wearing anime related shirts at the protests and began hurling racist remarks. The French proceeded to absolutely dominate them online with insane insults in response and its fucking amazing. Shit has me cackling
