An update: this fall, I’ll be joining @UDSOE within @UDCEHD as an Assistant Professor in the Educational Statistics and Research Methods program. I could not be more excited!
Wyatt Read presented this work today at the UD Steele Symposium!
In anticipation of IOMW 2025, we’ve posted a preprint of the paper we’ll be discussing there. Take a look! osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/7b…

Ever wanted to investigate DIF by more than one variable at once? My colleague Ethan McCormick and I have created an NCME ITEMS module on DIF analysis with multiple background variables using moderated nonlinear factor analysis. Take a look! ncme.org/itemsportal/digital…
Out now: @DerekCBriggs,
Laurie Davis and I investigate differences in how much students appear to grow on a vertical scale based solely on the grade alignment of (a large number of) common items. Turns out, the differences are pretty big!

I’ll miss weekly meetings with this research group (the whiteboard is an honorary member), but I’m excited to keep collaborating with them on the content-referenced growth project we’ve presented at the last two NCMEs!

Dr. @sandy_student presenting at NCME
I’ll be presenting on growth magnitudes and vertical scale design at IOMW tomorrow, and on variability in student growth across scales/time on Thursday. I’ll also be part of a symposium on content referenced growth Thursday (non-presenting but eager to contribute during the Q&A)
Now that it’s been resolved I’m pleased to announce that I was (initially) denied copyright permissions on my own dissertation paper because they thought I put Stanford Student instead of a name. 😬
I’m very excited to get the callup as discussant for what looks like it will be a fascinating symposium at NCME next week. Not to be missed indeed!

And on that note, I’ll have a poster of one of my dissertation papers at #AEFP2023 tomorrow at 11:45. Come say hi especially if you’re interested in benchmarking effect sizes against annual growth estimates!
