The BBC have branded Prince Harry's new memoir Spare "The weirdest book ever written by a royal". Which is a great excuse to tell you that in 1597 King James VI & I published the Daemonologie, a book on necromancy, black magic, and how to find, test, and punish witches.

And the coup de grace: Twitter workers who sign the agreement promise nondisparagement: they may not say anything negative about Twitter, nor its management, nor Elon. EVER. FOR LIFE. No wonder so many folks are reaching out to me about rejecting this and filing claims. 6/

Twitter workers, many of whom I represent, were FINALLY given their "severance agreements" on Saturday. They are really settlement agreements which SILENCE WORKERS FOR LIFE and and require them to give up important legal rights. Let's discuss. 1/

Researchers just found that gas stoves are responsible for 12.7% of childhood asthma cases. Recently I read dozens of studies about gas stoves and indoor air quality. I also installed monitors in our home and ran my own tests. Here's what I learned.

“Everyone is getting sick a lot and increasingly many people are really sick all the time” is a bad way to live. We can’t just keep pretending this is normal.
Replying to @TRyanGregory
What concerns me more than the height of peaks at this new point in SARS-CoV-2 variant evolution is the non-low of the troughs. In fact, every Omicron *low* has been higher than the Delta *peak*. This means a sustained pressure on an already exhausted healthcare system.

Saying @signalapp is ideologically neutral because of the good work they do is like saying the Salvation Army is ideologically neutral. The ideology can be clearly seen in who they refuse to serve, and your support supports that ideology.

While the argument that privacy is a dodgy ideology is obviously ridiculous, @signalapp (and Tor) are far from being ideologically neutral having decided that the donated time and funds they receive to futher enable privacy, was not intended to allow Chinese to have it.
Late contender for worst take of the year: NYT oped argues @signalapp is bad because users might not know it strongly protects comms from surveillance. I, for one, am a “witting” advocate user. nytimes.com/2022/12/28/opini…

THREAD: In #Lützerath beginnt die Räumung. Die Grünen machen damit einen großen Fehler. Here is why: 1.

Right?
Vielleicht…

The carbon footprint of a single Bitcoin transaction was 969 kilograms of CO2. This is equivalent to the per passenger carbon footprint of a one-way flight from New York to Sydney or the total footprint of around two million credit card transactions.

On average the network consumed 1,738 kWh of electrical energy for every transaction processed on the Bitcoin blockchain. The same amount of electricity could power an average US household for two months.
