“it’s not a nation state actor”
oh wait it’s obviously China
The China state-aligned threat actor Storm-0940 used the agentic AI penetration testing framework ARTEX to automate attacks targeting hundreds of organizations globally across a broad range of industries. Microsoft Threat Intelligence assesses that Storm-0940 was responsible for the recently disclosed ConnectWise supply chain compromise of a multitenant application. msft.it/6018aakEE
Our investigation found that Storm-0940's use of ARTEX accelerated the speed of compromised application abuse to authenticate to target environments through applications that had already been granted access, allowing the threat actor to operate without requiring an interactive user sign-in. AI-accelerated follow-on activity included reconnaissance, application credential changes, and attempts to modify privileges that could enable expanded or persistent access.
Read our blog for a detailed analysis and indicators of compromise (IOCs), along with Microsoft Defender detections, protection recommendations, and guidance on investigating service principal sign-ins and unexpected application credential or privilege changes.

Today's GitLab vuln was sitting in the code since 2014. Maximum severity. Twelve years! Debts are coming due, please fix your code.
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.
thanks to @alexrkonrad upstarts for digging into the military operations challenge (and what team Watchtower is doing to fix it)
Exclusive: new defense startup Watchtower Labs is launching from stealth with $35M to help solve the U.S. military's logistics mess.
I spoke with CEO and U.S. Marines veteran Akhil Iyer (@AkhilIyer1) about the company and mission to bring logistics into the AI era. Link below.
pareto frontier, open weights
Today we release mammoth-1 and elephant-1!
We post-trained mammoth-1, the #1 ranked best decision model in the world, and elephant-1, which is the best model under 15B (and beats Jev).
We're open-sourcing all model weights and provide a technical report detailing all our training and data methods.
1/ 6 weeks into the Iran war, the US had fired ~50% of its Patriot interceptors & THAADs. Every one fired over the Gulf can't be in the Pacific. We co-led Watchtower’s $35M seed: the decision layer for a finite military
Thrilled to back @AkhilIyer1 and team, alongside @ShieldCapVC @foundersfund.
Excited to share what I’ve been building for the past 18 months.
Today I can officially announce my role as cofounder and CEO of Watchtower Labs, and our $35M raised led by Raj Shah @ShieldCapVC and @saranormous at @conviction, with @foundersfund and IQT.
2/ note from @conviction on why we invested

3/ great piece from @alexrkonrad @UpstartsMediaCo with more background on product and first contracts

Replying to @JensenHuang
@JensenHuang at GTC:
"Here's Trajectory and Harvey using Nemotron, post-trained it and created their own frontier-level capability."
"With customization and with partners in the ecosystem that we work with, you could turn these models into the frontier.
And a result, turn your proprietary data into sovereign intelligence"
It's great to be doing work with such amazing companies like @harvey and @nvidia over here at @trajectorylabs!

super important honest advice to founders. if you are working on a dead end, get out. you don’t owe that to anyone, including investors (who regularly forgive and experience failure, and ideally care more about you doing your life’s work than a subpar outcome)
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/som…
Today’s example of why ai people are legitimately stressed about internet resilience in the face of agentic cyber attacks:
In 2026’s ongoing vulnpocalypse, eMudhra’s intermediate CA private keys turned out to be tiny numbers like 4 and 56. Anyone could recover them in seconds and mint a fully trusted certificate for any site.
To make this more real— you think you’re on irs.gov (padlock next to the url and all). But(!) it’s actually a scammer intercepting the connection, harvesting your SSN or bank details, then maybe forwarding you so you never notice.
Good news is the browsers already blocked the bad certs. Bad news is the long tail of servers, containers, and devices that still trust them has not.
One bad key-generation script from 2025 is still forcing a Heartbleed-scale cleanup. More to come. We have plenty of internet-wide security cleanup to do.
