One day theres going to be a heroic story of a robot who saved a person or group.

Just back from China. The competition there doesn't stop at cheap. It goes all the way to zero. What I saw meeting builders: 1. Teams compete themselves down to zero. Cheaper and cheaper until the margins are so small you question why you're even doing it. 2. Smart camera, NAS and IoT teams plan a year ahead to ship something cheaper and more optimized than the competition. That small difference is a magnitude bigger in sales. 3. A company we met told us they run this at the scale of millions of cameras. When you win in that market, the numbers are huge. 4. An office full of people still coding by hand. In our world AI does the coding, and humans oversee it and orchestrate the QA pipelines. They used AI to support, just not with the same aggression. Maybe budget. Very cutthroat, very brutal. But when you do find success, it can be very meaningful. My takeaway is if your only edge is cheaper, someone out there will go lower.

Life is a natural and shared human challenge that brings both difficulty and deep meaning. I honestly believe our mission is written into the stars.
not only am i not worried about the crypto community's ability to handle the upcoming ai/quantum threat, i will venture to say that in the next 2 yrs the world will realize crypto is far better prepared for it than the rest of the internet and finance. we've had a trillion dollar *irreversible* honey pot for a decade, producing a far more battletested system and adversarial security culture than pretty much anywhere else on earth.

Blockbuster's biggest asset was distribution. A store on every corner, no one could compete with it. Then streaming got good enough, almost overnight, and every one of those stores turned into a liability. Same pattern now. Big companies holding everyone's data are honey pots, and each breach adds to the bill. Meanwhile apps that never hold your data in one place will rise on a new internet OS. This is the creative destruction we will witness in the next few years.

Funds safe. Hardware not compromised. Keys revoked. And still, spam went out looking like it came from Foundation's own domains. The internet has no operating system, so a key never knows whose hand it's in 🙉
ANNOUNCEMENT: SPAM EMAILS HAVE BEEN SENT THAT APPEAR TO HAVE COME FROM OFFICIAL FOUNDATION DOMAINS. We have traced this back to one or more compromised API keys on Cloudflare, and have already revoked all API keys. The malicious domain in the spam email has been taken down. Funds stored on Passport are safe and Passport hardware is not compromised. We are working nonstop to discover exactly what happened and will put out a report ASAP.

When someone who spent 31 years building the internet says it's breaking, believe him. It never had an operating system. Every app guards its own doors. AI just made finding the open ones cheap.
GMO Internet Group CEO Masatoshi Kumagai says that the internet itself is on the verge of collapse due to missuse of AI, and frames this event as a national crisis.

Vitalik just drew the line the whole AI safety fight comes down to, limit what the model can do, never who gets to use it. Every gatekeeper wants the reverse.
I am okay with Kimi 3.1 deliberately leaving out top-end offensive cyber capabilities from their training data. Discriminating against use cases is MUCH less bad than discriminating against users. And the world does need all the time it can get to prepare, harden, check old code, (properly) formally verify new code, etc before the full weight of very powerful cyber attacks is upon us. And if this first big wave of AI risk is not handled well, then we may well get a dystopia of highly locked down models, KYC gating on everything, highly intrusive surveillance on everything, a society where you may be a second or third or fourth-class citizen in terms of model access based on your credentials and nationality.

On your laptop, nothing touches your files unless you say so, your operating system is the referee. Online, every app takes what it wants, and more of them get hacked every week. The internet never got a referee that works for you. ElastOS is building the internet OS, thE Last OS. AI agents make it urgent.

Its pretty shocking, its like everyone knows it deep down, as you talk about something at home then you have an ad on the topic 30 mins later on your socials, but we never really understood the details, now with AI we can reverse engineering anything, and everyone can shine light on the truth.
WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners. Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads. Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was. Got a root shell. then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems. This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.

This is also way bigger than Samsung, the very device we panic about if not in our pocket is the very thing leaching everything about you 24/7 and being sold to god knows who. We have to plug the gap, it's why we are building solutions in data ownership and access markets.

Most neoclouds if honest are just GPU loans with a dashboard. At somepoint a major frontier lab will also become a victim and that will cause panic.
Replying to @chamath
Pretty much. As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers. SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue. That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.

If you list what you actually used AI for last week, how much of it needed the newest model? If you don't need the frontier, why rent it per token forever? My bet is most companies end up owning good-enough models on their own machines and a small subscription for heavy compute tasks. We already do, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash on 4x Sparks. Now Apollo's chief economist just said AI "has delivered zero financial payoff to corporate America outside of tech." And mainstream corporate America "does not need the latest model and is unwilling to pay for it."

You've handed out thousands of keys to your whole house without realising it. Every room should have its own lock, and only you control who gets in. Secure the individual, and the institution follows. Time to change the locks.

Ok I set my home TV box free 😁 When i was young i always wanted Sky TV, getting cartoon network with Dex lab or watching Spiderman was the dream! I'd first though jump straight to Xtreme sports at my friends house hoping to catch Xgames. 20+ years later I can re-image this, dismantle my TV box at home, optimize it, and pack all types of personalized features in a weekend for fun. At this rate, ill add in Web3 login, IPFS nodes, Elacity market and runtime toolsets for owning and trading content and supporting p2p mesh networks.
