Actually in the age of AI my understanding of management has moved into context management. As a manager you have different context on decisions, and managing up and down is all about dealing with that context. Not about protection, but about abstraction. And it works both ways.

I've added a replay to Agent Systems Lab to see where tasks wait. In this simulation, capping work in progress leaves more tasks waiting to start, with the same completion times. I've put the comparison and charts in my Notes: saski.com/notes/review-capac… – at Madrid, Spain

My first "holy shit" moment with GPT-6 Astra: I asked it to create a world in Unreal Engine, and fill it with humans (each an Astra-powered agent) who all have to work together to survive. A day later, I was in my bedroom and heard voices coming from the living room... I thought someone was in my apartment. I walked out, honestly a little scared. It was the Astra agents. They'd started talking to each other. Fucking crazy. Here's a brief clip (obviously not 100% perfect yet, but still, insane. sound on!):

Este proyecto nació como reglas para coding con AI pero ahots es mi arnés personal para trabajar con agentes: skills bajo demanda, contexto intencional, planificación y OpenSpec combinando modelos frontera y gratuitos, cuando es posible. Hola, Arnesto: lnkd.in/eEMzfi7p – at Madrid, Spain

We just published our internal 37signals Manager Playbook. basecamp.com/managers Inside we share what’s expected of managers, team leadership philosophies of 37signals, our "Hell Yeah" standard, how to navigate difficult conversations, and how to balance management duties with core individual contributor work. Plus a whole lot more. There are no "just managers" at 37signals, so the individual contributor bit is key. Questions? Comments? Post 'em here and I'll do my best to make sense.

Andrej Karpathy just broke the entire premise of modern AI: "Agents aren't magic. They're distillation at scale." 99.99% of your LLM's capacity is wasted on garbage data it never needed. Small model + right tools + closed loop = terrifying capability. In a 16-minute conversation, Karpathy reveals the full reasoning stack. Worth more than any $500 AI course you've seen this year.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei: "We're a 1-2 year away from AI zooming past us." 90% of Anthropic's own engineers use Claude to ship code today. 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs gone by 2030 "Our lead Claude Code engineer hasn't written a single line of code in 2 months. This is worth more than most paid agent courses combined.

This movement will prove indestructible, no matter how much spin and concealment are deployed to stop it, no matter how many dollars are spent to counter it.
It took a little longer than expected, but we have created a website for people to view the footage collected from Gaza in one place. You no longer have to download the entire archives to see them. It includes: 64,537 videos 17,905 photos Ability to download individual videos Searchable index Exhaustive sources list (300+ journalists) Geolocation data Livemap with minute to minute updates Victim list It can be accessed here: ArchiveGenocide.com Please share & quote tweet to help this post break out of the twitter algorithm prison. We will keep adding the rest of the archives to the site, be patient- it is difficult work. Continue to seed the torrents provided, as that is the best way to ensure the footage remains stored in decentalized way. God bless all those who sacrificed their lives to get this footage out, and everyone invovled in collecting/archiving it. Hot take: I think it's still important to understand the code that our agents write! In this mega thread (based on my AIE talk today), I will explain why that's the case, and show some ideas for how to efficiently understand code. Alright, let's dive in. 1/

Defining Agent Loops as control systems
Replying to @dexhorthy
in control systems you're constantly trying to go from current state of the world -> desired state of the world. A canonical educational example is like trying to balance a pole on a cart (see link below for video) So when thinking about how to balance that pole, we can imagine the state being the angle of the pole. And we can either move the cart left or right to balance it. The first thing we can do is take the difference: how far are we from it standing straight up? That's the "P" part in PID (proportion). But if you only have this, then you'll find that there's kind of a "point of no return", as soon as the pole falls just enough, the system is borked it will fall. So to help with that you can add the 'D' part (derivative): if the error is increasing quickly, we may need a stronger correction. But even this isn't quite enough; you'll find yourself in a game of lots of fast, small corrections (kind of a constant over-shooting back and forth, never quite reaching balance). So we add the 'I' part (integral): dampen your corrections based on how error has accumulated over your past actions (so as you get closer, less error you slow down... acts sort of like a learning rate schedule) Your thermostat example just got me thinking that there's maybe a broader analogy here, and I wonder if there's some insight into how to design our controls around the agents with an expanded analogy :) statusfailed.com/blog/2022-1…

This looks like a standard solution to the problem I've been investing more time recently: standarizing my personal knowledge vault in a portable, easy to maintain and consume format. Worth testing it
Introducing the Open Knowledge Format (OKF), an open specification that formalizes the LLM-wiki pattern into a portable, interoperable format. AI is only as smart as the context we give it. As we build more advanced, agentic AI systems, they need accurate metadata and context to be useful. But in most organizations, that context is locked inside fragmented data catalogs, isolated wikis, scattered code comments, or the minds of senior engineers. Every time a new AI agent is built, teams are forced to solve the exact same context-assembly problem from scratch. To solve this, we've announced OKF, a vendor-neutral, open specification that formalizes the "LLM-wiki pattern" into a portable, interoperable format. It provides a standardized way to represent the enterprise knowledge that modern AI systems rely on. — Just markdown: readable in any editor, renderable on GitHub, indexable by any search tool — Just files: shippable as a tarball, hostable in any git repo, mountable on any filesystem — Just YAML frontmatter: for the small set of structured fields that need to be queryable: type, title, description, resource, tags, and timestamp We’ve also shipped reference implementations to help you hit the ground running, including an enrichment agent for BigQuery, a static HTML visualizer, and live sample bundles on @github → goo.gle/4uGvAEe ➕ Knowledge Catalog can now natively ingest OKF! Stop reinventing data models and building bespoke integrations for every new AI tool. Here's more about how OKF works → goo.gle/4uGvBbg
