🚨WATCH! Andrew Neil has just delivered one of the strongest, most necessary interventions of the week on this absurd “mystery celebrity” high court injunction. He is completely right, and anyone in a position of power should be paying attention. He is clear-eyed about the ruling itself: “I’m delighted he’s ruled that way. I’m not so delighted he’s kicked it into the long grass and we still can’t name this person.” Then he gets to the heart of it: “It really is ridiculous to stop legitimate newspapers and broadcasters who’ve done a legitimate investigation into somebody’s behaviour which seems unsavoury to put it mildly, not to be able to publish because that person says he’s gonna kill himself. You might as well shut down the British media if that’s the case.” This is exactly the point. We indulge this sort of nonsense far too often in Britain. A celebrity with the means to hire expensive lawyers should not be able to muzzle legitimate reporting of serious allegations simply by invoking mental health or the threat of self-harm. Money must not be allowed to buy silence, and threats of this kind must not become a reliable tool for suppressing scrutiny. @afneil is equally sharp on the contrast with America. Speaking from the US, he notes that a case like this would never have seen the inside of a courtroom. The First Amendment would have stopped it dead. As he puts it, we need to stop allowing our media to be “cribbed and confined and intimidated by people who are trying to hide their own wrongdoing by muzzling the media”. The whole situation is made even more ridiculous by the fact that everyone already knows who it is. The name has circulated freely in Scotland because the ruling does not apply there. Yet the English media remain gagged from publishing their own investigation and the allegations themselves. It is a farce. We need to get much tougher on this. The more the courts entertain these applications, the more people will keep using them to bury inconvenient truths. Let the press do their jobs.

.@HibernianFC were excellent for most of that game last night. And, augurs well for rest of the season. They made a team that cost nearly 60m euro to assemble look ordinary for much of the game To the boo boys who will never be pleased be careful what you wish for #hibs
'It came down to two huge moments. Unfortunately we were on the wrong side of both' Hibs boss David Gray after his side's quest for European football came to an end. #BBCFootball

I’ve never understood the idea that players from abroad need time to settle to the Scottish game. It’s all the more nonsensical now that around 75% of players on any given Saturday in the Premiership are non Scots. The idea that our game is too physical or quick and they need time to get used to it is fanciful. More plausible is that we’re just bringing in poorer quality players than we once did. If players don’t have the tools regardless of their age, they shouldn’t be getting a jersey or indeed signed at all.

I think Hibs as a fanbase have too high a expectation for the last 20 years we’ve been top 6, bottom 6, in the championship. A consistent top 6 finishing manager getting Europe 75% of the time should be celebrated. Nothing wrong with being ambitious but hounding mangers for-

Absolutely loved that @kevinbridges86 gifted the legendary @officialcafu a Hibs shirt upon meeting him for his excellent BBC documentary. Great way to commemorate Hibs 1953 tour of Brazil that inspired the samba soccer style Brazil became so famous for 🙌 ⚽️🇧🇷🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The UK just “smashed” its May temperature record… but here’s the part the Met Office conveniently leaves out: The PREVIOUS record was set in 1922. That’s 104 years ago. Long before SUVs, private jets, or modern CO₂ emissions. Heathrow Airport didn’t even exist yet. The area was literally farmland and small villages. So if a 1922 heatwave could produce nearly identical temperatures in a world with ~130 ppm less CO₂, maybe, just maybe, natural variability plays a much bigger role than the panic merchants admit.
Temperatures at Heathrow have recently reached 33.5°C, provisionally beating the all-time May record

🚨🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Green MSP Q Manivannan has been caught out big time. ‼️ Hes been telling voters he grew up starving from a lower caste family back in India. Turns out he went to a fancy private school in Chennai studied at a private uni and comes from a proper upper middle class background with doctors engineers and academics in the family. Now on a student visa in the UK and running for Holyrood. Wild how these stories unravel. #ScottishPolitics #WokeHypocrisy #IdentityPolitics
