This Wednesday, I welcomed the Country Director of Save the Children Nigeria @savechildrenNG, Mr. Duncan Harvey, and his team to the Government House in Dutse. Our conversation took us back over the past ten years of working together to improve the lives of children in Jigawa. It also reminded me that the true value of any partnership lies in what remains long after a project comes to an end. Save the Children has supported our state in many important areas, especially education, healthcare, nutrition, and child protection. Through the PLANE and EYEPIN projects, many children in Babura, Gwaram, Kafin Hausa and Malam Madori have been given another chance to learn. I was equally pleased to acknowledge the donation of teaching and learning materials worth over ₦85 million to SUBEB. That support will continue to make a difference in our classrooms. During our meeting, I made one point very clear: keeping children in school cannot be left to government alone. Parents, communities, traditional institutions and public officials all have a role to play. That is why we now review this issue regularly at the State Executive Council, and sector meetings, while initiatives like the Mothers' Forum continue to help families understand why every child deserves an education. I am encouraged by the progress we are making through the JILAL Programme, our integrated schools and the work to bring literacy and numeracy to 130 Tsangaya schools with over 70,000 pupils, while preserving traditional Qur'anic education. At the same time, we are helping traditional Qur'anic teachers strengthen their livelihoods through agricultural support because lasting change must work for both the children and those who care for them. I sincerely appreciate Save the Children Nigeria for standing with Jigawa over the years, and I thank everyone across our communities who continues to put the future of our children first. May Almighty Allah (SWT) bless our efforts and guide us as we build an education system that gives every child the opportunity to succeed. Ameen.

Play is a right, not a luxury. Too many children still miss out on safe, stimulating play at home. This must change! Every child, everywhere deserves the chance to play. #InternationalDayOfPlay #ProtectPlayProtectChildhood

Imagine a child starting life without the DTP vaccine, unprotected from diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). In Nigeria, over 2 million children are zero‑dose. This #WorldImmunisationWeek, we call for action so no child is left behind. #VaccinesWork
