Mr. Bezos: Let's have that debate.
Under my 5% billionaires wealth tax, we'd:
-Give $12K to a working family of 4
-Expand Medicare for dental, vision, hearing
-Guarantee universal childcare
-Raise starting teacher pay to $60K
And you'd still be worth $269 billion after taxes.
Jeff Bezos on CNBC: "If people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate, but don't pretend that that's gonna solve the problem. You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens.... Airbnb isn't causing high rents. What's really causing high rent is government intervention."

A reminder that Mayor Anne Hidalgo will go down as one of the most consequential mayors of the modern time: a mayor who literally built 600 miles of bike lanes and made hundreds of streets car free in her 12 years as Paris mayor. Bravo.

DOJ use of force policy.
He broke the law and murdered a US citizen. Full stop.
This is why we advocate for traffic calming. A speeder hit this car on Western sending it onto the sidewalk. Luckily no people on the sidewalk were injured.

#Pittsburgh's #StripDistrict isn’t just a destination — it’s a neighborhood where people deserve to feel safe no matter how they get around.

Love the new design of Market Square. Can't wait to enjoy a car-free public square in my own city, at least when the bollards aren't retracted.

Hey Pittsburgh, keeping cars out of Market Square would be the easiest thing in the world to do logistically and we should do it. It won't harm businesses and people will flock to it like never before. It's time to make one single place in our beautiful city car free!
Another crucial update: Retractable bollards are now in the plan for a Market Square makeover! wesa.fm/development-transpor…
Just got to #Amsterdam. Having a bite and coffee at Bar Bukowski, adjusting to the new time zone, and watching the street life outside. I'm going to be posting some 🔥 bike/walk infrastructure content so stay tuned to this thread
And here's a great article on how the Dutch configure their traffic signals to avoid conflicts while also minimizing delay for all users. It's a matter of policy. beyondtheautomobile.com/2020…

me whispering in RFK's ear that the best way to make america healthy again is to end car dependency and build affordable housing in walkable neighborhoods
Project 2025 is terrible for many reasons, but not much attention has been given to why it would be terrible for transportation. Here's why these policy proposals would be terrible for Pittsburgh's mobility future.

PA MAIL-IN VOTERS: Don’t send ballots via snail mail anymore, it won't arrive in time. Allegheny County is encouraging those voters instead to return their mail-in ballots in person to one of the county's 10 ballot return sites. Check story for locations: triblive.com/local/dont-mail…

E-bike rebates might be the most wildly popular transportation policy in the country right now.
I visited Denver – the first US city to offer them– to see if reality matches the hype.

It's first worth pointing out a car-only transport system is perhaps the most ableist of all. A third of the population does not have the physical or financial means to drive: like children, the elderly, caregivers, people with lower incomes, and those with physical disabilities.
This interview with @DavidZipper is, well, on point. Worth a listen!
On NPR's @OnPointRadio, @MeghnaWBUR and I discussed car bloat's contribution to the US pedestrian safety crisis -- and why NHTSA's new plan to regulate hood designs could be a game changer.
