I donโt usually agree with Frederiksen, but I think she is right about the Norwegian-Finnish initiative.
Stubb and Stรธre might be right that they have โinformedโ their allies, but in the Danish sense, that kind of information-sharing wouldnโt simply mean saying, โWeโre going to call Putin in five minutes, FYI.โ It would involve a much longer conversation covering who gave them the mandate, what the aim of the call would be, what the red lines are, what exactly they intend to negotiate, which issues they could accept compromises on, and much more.
I would have assumed the same process would apply to the Norwegians and Finns, but apparently not. What Iโve heard from Christiansborg seems to suggest the same thing.
I also think President Stubb is trying to grab a bit too much of the spotlight and is taking up an unnecessarily prominent role. I have no idea why this hasnโt been settled yet, but the person representing the EU should be chosen by the European Council. Personally, I think it should be either Macron, as the longest-serving national leader, or Tusk, since he knows Putin well and has served as European Council president. He understands the art of brokering deals and knows the dynamics between the member states well.

Which 1932โ1933 event debunks the narrative that the Soviet regime treated all member republics equally and without targeted repression?
The Holodomor was a man-made famine engineered by Stalin's regime that killed millions of Ukrainians. Requisition quotas and travel bans were specifically enforced against Ukrainian rural populations to break national resistance to Soviet collectivization.
Which event debunks the Russian propaganda narrative that the 2014 Revolution of Dignity (Euromaidan) was an unconstitutional foreign 'coup' rather than a democratic sovereign action?
On February 22, 2014, Ukraine's democratically elected parliament (the Verkhovna Rada) - including members of President Yanukovych's own party - voted 328โ0 to constitutionally remove him after he fled the capital, followed by internationally monitored democratic elections.
Which 1997 treaty debunks the Russian government's claim that it never officially recognized Ukraine's post-1991 international borders, including Crimea?
In the 1997 Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership (the 'Big Treaty'), the Russian Federation explicitly recognized Ukraine's territorial integrity and reaffirmed the inviolability of existing bilateral borders.
