This paragraph from $META's inside 10-q filling may mark the official announcement that the funding environment for the AI buildout has turned the corner. (HT: Barclays' Alexander Altmann)

I always am entertained when people forget that one of the core use cases for overnight futures is a hedging mechanism

“Our belief is that the value of compute per watt will increase over time, not decrease. And the reason for that, I think it should be obvious to people is that as you improve AI, as the models get better and better, they're able to you get more useful intelligence per watt. And the value of that compute is proportionate to the useful intelligence per watt produced. And that's why you see things, even old computers like H100s, renting for more than they rented when they were new. And I think that's likely to continue. I think we're going to face a shortage of superintelligence compute”

I enjoy being skeptical of this as well and I’m not entirely sold on the $500B, but I do believe that the pace at which more bots, coding agents, autonomous systems, vehicles, robotics and beyond are coming online to both AI and connectivity from anywhere is about as early as it gets in terms of what’s possible.
So $SPCX is forecasting $500B to $1T in AI ARR at YE 2027, on $500B of capex (10 GW increase)?! This is a 1-2x revenue/investment ratio as the entire industry is now at 0.3x. Their 3Q AI capex was only $16B. They had better get going…

I’d love to see some stocks return to the days of pre-releasing earnings or announcing earnings without giving an exact date. Always a great tactic to make certain moves extra spicy. Actually the last great example of this was Jack Dorsey and Square some 5+ years ago. They pre-released a beat and the stock ripped. It was also the move that ignited one of its bigger long-term trends.

Very interesting to watch
citadel's global equities head says some of the biggest hedge-fund losses now happen without a major market selloff. “The S&P 500 didn't move very much.” justin lubell describes huge P&L swings driven by factor shocks and rotations inside the market. a portfolio can look diversified by ticker and still be one crowded bet.
