It’s #phillippsmss week at @cultivate_mss. Featuring one of our MSS owned by Sir Thomas Phillips
This spectacular early medieval #PhillippsMSS was sold at auction in 1945. It came to auction again in 1997 and was bought by Lawrence J. Schoenberg, founder of @schoenbergdb. It was given to the University of Pennsylvania by Barbara Brizdle Schoenberg in 2014, where it's LJS 101

In the last two centuries, MS D2 was listed for sale by several booksellers, including @Quaritch, different iterations of @Sothebys, Francis Edwards (@haycinemabooks), and E. P. Goldschmidt & Co., from whom @kulibraries purchased the manuscript in May 1956.

And who, we ask, doesn’t need a little @schoenbergdb data to get the weekend rolling?
