Censorship? Sally Rooneyās own publisher made the decision to stop selling her books after she insisted sheād use the royalties to fund a proscribed terror group. If she wasnāt intent on funding terrorism via the profits of her books, there would be nothing to stop them being sold. Hardly ācensorshipā.
OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country. We categorically reject censorship - whether direct or indirect - and urge the government to change course, amending the legislation which has led us to this point of repressive absurdity.
He is, quite obviously, right.
William Hague declares Trump the worst president of his lifetime, and struggles to see how anyone could have a different opinion.
āThis mishandling of world affairs ⦠is the most serious development and negative development in the world since the Second World War.ā

Reform councillor quits over offensive remarks bbc.in/3TZlD8O
āThey met my dogsā šš
STATEMENT
I am aware that ITV infiltrated the Portsmouth Reform UK branch for their undercover report. I am featured in their documentary. Not in a bad way, in my opinion, but still featured. Iāll get to that in a minuteā¦.
What I am more shocked and disgusted in is that I now know who the two reporters were whom infiltrated us. These two men campaigned with us in March/April in Portsmouth and it leads me to wonder whether their interference in an election is a potential criminal offence.
We have no way to know whether they posted flyers they were meant to. Or whether they gave us correct door knocking information. They campaigned in four seats specifically where, in 3, we lost by a small number of votes. Their involvement would have had an impact on the result.
By default ITV could have literally paid reporters to ruin an election result for Reform UK candidates. That has to be criminal.
On a personal level I allowed these men in my home. I made them drinks. They met my dogs. Itās an entirely disgusting invasion of personal privacy. I have photos of these men and know who they are - I will not disclose them at this stage but may in the future once Iāve gotten advice
In relation to my involvement with the documentary I remain firm in everything I personally said. I was never a member of the Portsmouth Patriots, as the documentary states, but I have supported their movement over the years from the sidelines. The executive team who run them are good people. Yes outside third parties have come in and done some abhorrent things. Those people should be condemned. But the local group themselves are decent, passionate, local residents who care deeply about their community.
Iām appalled by ITV and hope they are held to account for their potential criminal behaviour and election interference. The two reporters involved in infiltrating Portsmouth I hope are held to account for their personal actions in the outcome of elections.
The money, resources and time spent by companies and individuals to damage Reform UK are unprecedented in our political system - you have to ask yourself why?

The miracle of the last 20 years has been that Americans finally realized that everyone has a gay friend or family member -or hillbilly - and that the time for this kind of ignorance is over and everyone can go HOME where theyāre truly loved. Pray for this suffering man.
.@VP JD Vance implies U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico (D-TX) is gay: "I love you too, sir. In a totally platonic way, to be clear. I'm the Vice President, not James Talarico."

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

Excellent interview by @bbcnickrobinson . Remarkable that Polanski can't say whether Israel should exist.

Well, the Conservatives and Reform UK didn't lose their deposit in Holborn & St Pancras, but George Galloway did, meaning he's not getting 56,361.35 Rubles back.
My objection to the death penalty (which is absolute) aside - this is completely sickening.
People show you who they are by how they use the power they are given.

Just interviewed Nigel Farage, not sure he spotted that he was holding my @LancsTelegraph front page story on Reform's mooted idea to put tolls on the M65....

The strongest section of Kemi Badenoch's speech so far:
"To those who say āunite the rightā... we are not uniting with THAT. I donāt want to live in a country run by people who threaten journalists, call veterans traitors and debate whether my mixed-race children are English.
"I donāt want to explain to my son, when weāre watching our brilliant England team play football, that some people donāt think our black players are English.
"I remember back in the day when Ian Wright and John Barnes were playing - nobody was questioning whether they were English. We certainly didnāt have sitting MPs questioning whether they were English.
"We must not let these people take us backwards. That is not the country we are. I donāt know whether youāve noticed, but I am black. I am British. Iām proud of my country, Iām proud of our history."
