Honored to have been selected as one of this year's travel awardees for the Wisconsin Symposium on Emotion! Was such a joy to think translationally with brilliant minds and fantastic mentors - so grateful for this opportunity 😍🙏 #AcademicTwitter #PsychTwitter
Impressed with the courage and leadership it takes to take this stand 😍
Tired of paying over $3000 to publish in Neuroimage? So are we! @OHBM @OHBM_Trainees
SO COOL & really highlights the importance of mechanism-focused research & treatment. IMO more focus should be on the PROCESSES underlying *transdiagnostic* clinical presentations and interventions targeting *those same processes.* Need to synchronize research & practice! 🧠
Ever wondered how many symptoms make up all of adult psychopathology described in the DSM-5? It’s 628!
How many do you think repeat across multiple diagnoses? If you answered 231 symptoms repeating a total of 1022 times (median 3 times per symptom, range 2-22), good job!
🧵

ALT A plot of the repetition among the symptoms in the DSM-5 showing substantial overlap within and between chapters of diagnoses. 202 primary disorders and specifiers are represented, and diagnostic criteria have been split into a list of 1419 constituent symptoms. Each dot on the circumference is a symptom; its size represents symptom frequency. Lines linking symptoms map the repetition among diagnoses within and between chapters.
📢Logging on to proudly announce our masterpiece “Current (& Future) Grad Students Determine the Best Mac ’n Cheese Brand: An Empirical Investigation.” In classic academia fashion, this group effort has been a long time in the making! Thread below for highlights/cat pics (1/6)
Of note, kitty concurs that TJ's is overrated. Limitations include inconsistent temperature due to staggered cooking procedures, & lack of double-blind testing due to limited resources & feasibility. Future work should build upon these results to explore generalizability (5/6)
Thanks to all who made this impt work possible @gabi_hamlett, @McghieShaan, @AbbyBeech4, Phoebe the cat, and grad-school-induced delirium combined with our everlasting joie de vivre that was our inspiration, motivation, and source of creative direction. Please enjoy 💯 🤣(6/6)

I truly wish that we as a field could normalize having a full, rich, vibrant life outside of our careers. Doing things you enjoy shouldn’t be seen as luxurious and indulgent — it is normal.
🚨Applying to #psych PhD programs or RA positions this cycle? Check out @Harvard's free informational workshop & mentoring event for historically minoritized folks in STEM!! Application & details: psychology.fas.harvard.edu/p…
