4. Sometimes it’s about keeping the athlete inside the guardrails, not reinventing the wheel. Knowing how NOT to screw a guy up is just as important, if not more, than making him better.

5. Keep it simple Athletes want simple, digestible feedback and cues. Not nonstop word vomit so the coach can sound smart.

Paul Skenes essentially threw the same amount of pitches 95+ mph during the WBC (75) as he did over a similar amount of time in 2025 MLB Spring Training (86) . I don’t think the WBC is really to blame

#Uncommitted 2027 RHP Brandon Hartman (Bishop Eustace HS) 4.5 GPA 1420 SAT FB 85-89 🔥 with a good SL / CH that tumble downhill from a high slot. Heavy swing and miss arm. Low EXTENSION Doesn’t Have to be a DEATH sentence☠️ Extension is valuable. The farther down the mound you release the ball, the less time a hitter has to react. BUT having below-average EXTENSION doesn’t mean you can’t be an elite pitcher. It simply means you may need to win in different ways. A thread on how ⬇️:

Logan Franks @SJUHawks_Base LHP: 85 -> 92 in one calendar year. There’s no secret sauce to adding this amount of velocity in a year. Address the flaws, build a plan, and stack good reps/throws/days over and over again and this is what can happen.
