Tax planning is all about shifting income & deductions to opportunistically utilize the most useful marginal tax bracket. Most people are too busy with their day-to-day lives to see these opportunities. That's where a tax pro can often find tens of thousands in tax savings.

My family of 4 is currently on a VA health exchange plan and it's ~$2k a month. We want to switch to @JoinCrowdHealth but my wife has Hashimoto's. A pre -existing condition. Which means we are on the hook if she gets a nodule that needs treatment. It seems impossible to accurately compare the two options given the risks. Am I missing something in my thinking?

Flash mob this past weekend. Drew the biggest crowd I have seen on King Street in Old Town, Alexandria. Tons of spillover business to local restaurants and shops. The city should foster more of this.

Our daughters first day care shut down due to financial issues. Even though they were charging us $1,900 a month. The replacement one just got sued for a kid having broken bones under their care. With pages of violations threatening to shut them down. Brutal business....

I always stop scrolling on these type of animations. Muse helped me make this one. Pretty rad! 4 edits based on simple prompts.

A guest booked a non-refundable stay for our AirBNB. Messaged asking for a full refund. We allowed it, but get nothing but good karma. Airbnb should come up with a way for guests to review hosts in this situation imo.

Is $4000 for a one time financial plan review (assume it covers the seven major categories with material value add)....

Waymo charging in Alexandria, VA. Test driver said they are "mapping". Can't wait for this to go live.

Have been afraid to use ai on tax returns because of privacy liability. Used it on my own return and HOLY SHIT. Just small things like automatic work papers is huge. Knowing it only gets better from here makes me excited.

"My husband has never been a fan of AirBNB, but I got him to try it again. He is sold on this place, the privacy, everything that we required and more. We'll be back for sure!" Most recent review for our place. ~10 yrs of hosting and this is up there for highest praise.

I used to hate the idea of one time financial plans... I wanted recurring revenue as a business owner. But being able to disconnect from a finished project completely has it's own value. Becoming a huge fan with the right process in place.

I did not know 80% of parenting was shuffling kids around to birthday parties and activities. Maybe that's why my dad let me play video games.

My wife & I went the other way on this. We recently bought a home with an assumable 2.25% rate. I hope it works out for both families!
I bought a house in 2021 for $500k. It had a 3% interest rate. Shortly after I got a divorce. I then found Dave Ramesy and learned about financial independence. Today I just paid the mortgage off. I am free! No more debt for me!

A family member was sold a fixed annuity as what to do with his TSP rollover. Rep got $10k and saddled them with a ~$50k surrender charge if they change their mind inside 10 yrs. This industry needs reform. Think it failed to meet suitability standard.

My wife is a badass programmer. She left her day job ~3 yrs ago not needing to earn another dollar... ...but it would be fun to try stuff together. It's hard & you realize how critical distribution is. She recently sold a $80 app subscription & I could not be more proud!

I never found a great way to sell the value of avoiding mistakes as part of financial planning. I have two real-world $100k+ avoidable expense issues I am dealing with because they did not follow proper advice. Difficult problem to solve well.

Seeing a higher incidence of people with DIY financial planning simulations showing 9% annual rates of return. "I am just using historical market returns." 😬

I was speaking with a 70+ year old doctor who returned from a trip to Florida. He had hung out with another doc who made a few million investing in a stock. He was jealous that the other doc was buying Bentley's for his family. This doctor will never be truly wealthy...
