Sean Fitzpatrick🎩

The low-slot, flat VAA starter is en vogue right now. Guys like Bryan Woo, Joe Ryan, Freddy Peralta, most recently Emmett Sheehan have shown capable at times of dominating with just one pitch; the fastball. I'm eager to see what Arizona State LHP Sean Fitzpatrick can add this winter. Up to 92 this spring and produced a 31 percent whiff rate on the heater. Launches from a 4'11" slot with well-above average extension thanks to a slight hop-step delivery. Manages to produce north of 17 inches of IVB. Kid has pretty twitchy hips and separates hard at foot plant. Loose arm appears to possess some natural deception in a cross-body operation. Has worked to develop a more sustainable sweeper that showed progress as the season carried forward but too often caught too much of the plate. Was dynamite for Hyannis this summer logging 13.1 innings and punching 16 tickets alongside just four walks. Threw just 29 innings for ASU this spring notching 33 strikeouts with 12 walks. Could he eventually develop into an Alex Wood or JP Sears? Maybe. Time will tell. Velo needs to click into another gear. But there's some components to dream on. I'd expect an expanded role for the 21 year old in 2025.
