scott is pretty standard stuff like sports team/courting/etc but ive come to associate shackleton with yard act in the sense that theyre a bit naff at times but if you look past that then theyre undeniably awesome. neither are cool enough for squid

have i ever mentioned that in my terror 90s band au i also have scott/shackleton/etc as crank wave bands and if you can guess the certain figure who connects both of these things whos tumblr blog ill use as a vessel for it all i will actually start it for real

there is something really really wonderful about bands on the periphery of britpop (gene, mansun, longpigs, marion, menswear, ash, shed seven, dubstar, etc) just really interesting things going on in the world of uk indie rock away from the highly commercial spotlight zones

i dont say this to hate on Big Pop but getting into the UK indiepop scene has been the most rewarding music experience of my life especially now all the bands from the 80s/90s are doing stuff again in ways 14 year old me could only dream of
