Second attempt at a short form video to promote Life Altered. This time I remembered to add subtitles. 😅
I think I will try to do 1 per week. And then when the demo is out, I will attempt a marketing push on a few fronts (not looking forward to that)
Trying to get into short form video production. This is exhausting, but... what do you think of this early attempt?
I can highly recommend this generous offer. Derek had some great points about my Steam page.
Life Altered - Open Playtest live on Steam retweeted
This game is a nature based roguelike deckbuilder that blends cards and dice gameplay.
Collect creatures like honey badgers, tarantula hawks, or sequoia trees and use their powers to battle the mutated masses of life forms infected by an alien virus.
It is Life Altered.
Thank you so much for giving the game a whirl @MomsSecretObs - that was a lot fun to watch! (sorry it took me so long to view it).
"I don't know why we're poisoning our mushrooms." 😅 Made me laugh!
It was also really helpful to se where the game was confusing. Gives me something to fix.
Happy Ask A Stupid Question Day, lets ask if these games are worth a spot on your Wishlist by trying some demos - live - kick.com/momssecretobsession We just finished - @gloomsoft's Moadra store.steampowered.com/app/1… Next up is @senescentleaf Life Altered store.steampowered.com/app/3…
Today I was coding a new event for my game from my list of yet to be implemented events.
After about half of it was done I accidentally clicked on the wrong room and opened an old event that I already implemented... and it turns out it was the same one I was currently coding. I just forgot that I already did it.
Tell me your game has gotten too big for you without telling me your game has gotten too big for you, huh?
Well, this was fun. #my9games
I guess I like RPGs :)
Sursprisingly many people irl ask me why I don't use AI to make my game. The list is so long. But my top 5 is:
5. It's theft of someone else's creativity.
4. It fills each market with low quality crap.
3. It prevents you from learning something new.
2. It kills creativity.
1. It's a huge waste of humanity's collective resources.
I'm gathering quotes from other game devs that help me in my project. Today's quote:
"Games are pretty bad right until shortly before they are finished."
Erik Wolpaw on @TheExaminedGame podcast.
Lately I've been thinking about how I will have spent 4 - 5 years on my game when it releases and it will probably not even make back the money I spent on it.
Sounds frustrating, but I am trying not to be frustrated. I still want to finish the game and I think it's worth finishing. I will still create value for myself in form of everything I learned on this project.
Like animating sprites in Spine 2D for example. 😄
I wish I could go back three years and bring a copy of my game with me to see if I would jave played and enjoyed it when I wasn't too deep in ithe making of it. I have no idea what I have here.

I think I need a publisher. I just hate how thinking about marketing has replaced so much brain space in my head previously reserved for thinking about game design and coding.
