The Somali Gender Equity Movement (SOMGEM) has issued a Call to Peace urging an immediate end to the political violence in Mogadishu and calling on all parties to engage in constructive dialogue.
We are deeply concerned by the loss of life, injuries, displacement, and destruction caused by the recent confrontations. Somalia's future must be built through dialogue, compromise, and peaceful resolution of political differences—not violence.
SOMGEM, together with Somali women leaders and civil society actors, stands ready to support mediation and reconciliation efforts in the interest of peace, stability, and national unity.
