First Balde and now Gavi…,, I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the homegrown players who’ve been at club for more than a decade deserves better treatment from the Flick and his staff.

We’ll never know everything that goes on behind the scenes, but let’s also be real. Back in the summer, Flick publicly said he’d been clear with Balde and Koundé about their situations. Reports then said Balde was told he would start as a substitute and needed to earn his place, and he chose to stay and fight for it. That doesn’t tell us how communication has been handled since, but this situation clearly didn’t come out of nowhere. And before anyone starts, I’m not blindly taking Flick’s side, but I’m not taking Balde’s either. Choosing sides without knowing what’s happening behind the scenes is part of the problem. We can only go off the reports we’re given, and those need to be taken with a grain of salt because both camps have their own version of events.
