.@SpaceX just spent $19.6B on 65 MHz of spectrum and said it will build its mobile network with small cells on rooftops instead of towers, saying explicitly, “you deploy that as you need it.” Sound familiar? The most valuable private company in the world looked at the macro tower model and...passed. Their plan? Distributed radios on buildings, deployed incrementally, close to where people actually use data. It’s an endorsement of decentralized networks by the biggest challenger to traditional telco. Do satellites solve the universal connectivity problem? Not entirely on their own. Satellites are are good at covering things like oceans, highways, rural dead zones, and disaster areas. But what physics will not let them do is deliver capacity indoors, where most mobile data is actually consumed. Satellite signals do not pass through buildings, and 65 MHz stretched across a continent cannot carry a city at rush hour. Indoor connectivity has to be built from the ground up. Radio by radio, building by building, by people who are already there. It is the hardest part of wireless to replicate and the one part satellites fall short. So to @SpaceX @Starlink @Gwynne_Shotwell, welcome to decentralized wireless infrastructure! You handle the sky and when your customers walk inside, the @helium Network is already there for a smooth handoff 🤝. Source: fierce-network.com/wireless/…

You can add @helium free plan as a second SIM, and your phone will automatically connect to Helium Wi-Fi hotspots—while still using your main carrier. No need to switch carriers.

We've let all the law firms we work with know, that if they hire anyone who committed these bad deeds in the (soon to be) prior administration, we will no longer be a client of theirs. Senior partners at these law firms seem unaware of the crypto industry's position on this. For instance, Milbank recently messed up and hired Gurbir. We don't work with them now (and never will while he works there). It's an ethics violation in my book to try and unlawfully kill an industry while refusing to publish clear rules. If you were senior there, you cannot say you were just following orders. They had the option to leave the SEC and many good people did. It was not a normal SEC tenure. They can go work in other areas (I don't believe in permanently cancelling people), but we as an industry should not be putting money in their pocket after the abuse. Let your law firms know that hiring these folks means losing you as a client.
DEAR STARTUP FOUNDERS The election is over. The future has been secured. But the people who wanted to put Elon in jail, restrict for your AI model, keep funneling government contracts to the usual suspects, and more have one last trick: They’re going to ask you for a job. 1/

Can confirm this is true. It was one of the most unethical and un-American things that happened in the Biden administration, and my guess is we'll find Elizabeth Warren's fingerprints all over it (Biden himself was probably unaware). We're still collecting documents via FOIA requests, so hopefully the full story emerges of who was involved and whether they broke any laws. Warren and Gensler tried to unlawfully kill our entire industry, and it was a major factor in the Dems losing the election. The Democratic party should realize Warren is a liability and further distance themselves if they want to have any hope of rebuilding.
Did you know that 30 tech founders were secretly debanked?

Don't do this. No matter how much you dislike Trump, don't do this. Half the people in America voted for Trump. If you think voting for Trump makes people evil, then you have to believe half the people in America are evil, and that's just deluded.

Good advice! I came across a quote once that said “Read non-fiction to raise your floor. Read fiction to raise your ceiling.”

Here's a big list of things that don't seem to work, based on the last 20 years of running Tiny: • Giving an advisor or advisory board free equity to advise a CEO without putting any real skin in the game and investing their own money (they usually go "thanks for the free equity" and occasionally respond to emails) • Variable price/cost plus contracts (going over budget = vendor makes more money - natural incentive to go over budget) • Synergy between two entities, unless they are almost 100% identical and it happens naturally between the two management teams with a clear profit incentive (even then, rarely works) • Hiring people with traditional finance backgrounds—especially big corporate accounting—as opco CFOs (I see this a ton - first time entrepreneurs in small businesses hire a bean counter when they need somebody who is willing to roll up their sleeves and operate the business alongside them with a financial lens) • Hiring outside management/compensation/etc consultants (they have no alignment and get paid regardless of the outcome / often incentivized to tell you to change everything so they sound smart / they can't deliver hard news to management because they serve them / "consulting is the art of picking your pocket watch to tell you the time") • Fractional CFO/finance people vs. in-house finance (you'd almost always pay the same amount just in-housing, except you get 1/20th of their time and attention and they aren't aligned with you) • Hiring a big company person to run a small or medium company (no scrappiness, used to a big cushy org full of support - usually don't know how to hire, how to do HR, how to incentivize, how to run an actual org, think TOO big) • Hiring a CEO from a business with X business model (for example, ads) and expecting them to execute Y business model (for example, recurring membership revenue) in your business (people typically keep executing the strategy they know and love/are comfortable with - “to a person with hammer, everything looks like a nail”) • Expecting a business to disrupt itself or incubate its own “labs” projects (these are usually expensive boondoggles and the innovator’s dilemma typically kicks in “never expect someone to understand something that their paycheck depends on them not understanding”) • Expecting a CEO to issue dividends vs. horde cash when their incentives don’t align with dividend receiving shareholders (CEOs will often  press to keep as much cash on the balance sheet as possible, unless dividends benefit them as well - you essentially incentivize them to create silly R&D projects or at least project the need for massive cash investment) There's so many more. Will share as I think of them :-)
