My machine bed is about 30 inches square.
Completed a job that is almost 7 feet.
Keeping all the 3 axes (X, Y, Z) as accurate as possible took me more time than machining it. If the board deviates a millimeter, the whole thing is waste.

Started learning 3D carving in December 2024.
This piece started with a simple photograph. Programmed and carved on rengus wood.
Total time taken: 3 and a half hours.
No finishing applied— that’s another technique, and I have no experience with it.
3D carving is not for the faint of heart.
3 hours and continuing. I can still go crazy smooth but this is already taking longer than I expected
I finally cracked the code. Up until today, my 3D carvings are crap.
So smooth that I’ll don’t really think I’ll need to sand. But the catch: it’s taking 3 hours for the finishing pass. 35 minutes for the roughing.
Worth it.
Will post final result later.
