I love when a dating app's tagline is "the app that's designed to be deleted" cause you really do delete it within a week when you realize nobody that's been on there for more than a week is ensouled

The breakneck race to destroy *any* connection to a shared or objective reality is one of the most repulsive things going on right now in tech

Microsoft has filed a patent for an AI system that could rewrite what people say during livestreams in real time. It could change words depending on who's watching, taking into account their age, location, and language.
The idea is to clean up broadcasts by removing filler words, censoring swearing, or even replacing certain words.
The AI could also adjust the speaker's lip movements so viewers wouldn't notice anything had been changed.

Last Tuesday, progressive state senator Troy Jackson defeated longtime GOP Senator Susan Collins by 6%. He won by making huge inroads in the growing Portland metro and coastal areas compared to Gideon in 2020.
Collins did 0.7% better than Trump - a solid performance given the environment, but she couldn't overcome the blue tsunami.
Feel like Darren Soto should run for Senate in 2028.
Overperformed everyone else to win his gerrymandered district, and is unlikely to hold it in 2028. May as well run for a 6 year term.

It's not really clear this midterm was just turnout. Our polling among *registered voters* showed an abnormally high number of Trump voters also flipping blue. Like an inverse of 2024, a non-trivial amount of the Republicans who sat out would have voted Dem if they voted.

fwiw one of Talarico's old friends from UT told me he was the only person she knew in college who went to church every Sunday
so bizarre to see people repeating this. anyone who has covered talarico or observed him can see he's just like this. would highly recommend @AllegraEHobbs profile of talarico if you think it's a "schtick" texasmonthly.com/news-politiโฆ

2030 will be a tough hold for every statewide office a Democrat won Tuesday. But after she took down Abbott with no money, I promise you no one on the R side is going to be lining up to face Hinojosa. They'll all want to primary Cruz. Cause they're little bitches.

Biggest D gains in the US House popular vote versus 2022. Note that there are some slightly fancy adjustments here for uncontested districts:
Utah +29.5
North Dakota +28.6
Alabama +28.1
Indiana +24.6
Mississippi +23.7
Wyoming +23.0
Louisiana +21.7
All super red states.

I think there's a strong argument that 2028 will be similar to 2020 in that the 2026 Wave Babies will lose re-election.
But.
If Trump continues to follow a Bush 2 trajectory in approval, people've gotta embrace the possibility that 2028 is slightly worse for Rs than 2026, just like '08 was worse than '06.
What would 1976 have looked like if Nixon hadn't resigned? Probably 1932.
If Trump doesn't return to >38% approval and isn't removed from office so Vance can take the helm, then, to quote Total Recall...open your mind.

I'll also note that a POTUS run can really harm crossover appeal *within your own state.* This is relevant if you lose the nomination.
Klobuchar, for example. She remained popular, but she never again got the crushing margins she enjoyed before her 2020 run.
