My dear sir I and the pakistani nation remains indebted to Kayani and the rest of the chivalrous folk at the ISI that rid our country of the leech 'Musharraf.' That wouldn't be possible without the lawyers movement.
Secondly, it was Mushy's lil puppies at the MI responsible for the Lal Masjid operation, the I boys were chums with the mullahs, they never wanted this to go down because that's exactly what the americans wanted so anti pak insurgency would intensify and the lines between good and bad talib would blur so the ISI would have trouble choosing to support the anti american militants covertly.
Thirdly, you call it giving miliants time and space, I call it strategic defiance because the americans pressed him to launch operations in north waziristan which would have turned our asset 'Siraj Haqqani' against us and the anti pak insurgency would further intensify. It was only because of kayani's support to the talibs and haqqanis that the americans were kept engaged in afghanistan, the same americans who brought aims of denuking the state kayani was in charge off. So I say he did a DAMN GOOD JOB.
What do you mean memogate? That was Haqqani's betrayal and imo he should've been hunted down and made to pay for it.
Know what the same americans didn't want? Kayani getting an extension. So I am glad as hell he got one, handed OBL as face saving for americans and got them to initiate the retreat from Afghanistan.
I spy with my little eye, a spymaster with the experience of leading the two leading spy agencies of the only nuclear armed muslim nation.
Besides him seated a newly appointed spymaster assigned the daunting task by the neo sultan to hold the banner of victory in syria against the deadliest spy agency on earth, the Mossad.
General Kakar's most fateful decision was the removal of DG ISI 'Javed Nasir.' The removal stemmed from Kakar's secular tendencies and his desire to remove religiosity from the ISI.
Javed Nasir's capabilities are apparent from the fact that when the world had imposed a weapons embargo on Bosnia and Bosnians were being butchered by the serbs, it was Javed Nasir who covertly provided them with anti tank missiles and weaponry while defying the global order.
After his sudden removal, a highly incompetent 'Javed Qazi' was assigned the role of DG ISI and we saw the ISI losing control of the afghan file as well as soiling relations with the proxy jihadi ecosystem that was priorlu thriving as a tool of national security and foreign policy.
A reflection of this stupid man's thinking is that he was especially infuriated by the ISI officers in 'kameez shalwar' and 'long beards.' He purged the afghan bureau of the ISI of its most competent officers and we saw afghanistan descent into a greater degree of chaos because of these measures.
On the demise of ex army chief 'General Kakar' I'd like to share an incident where he defied a direct order of General ZIA UL HAQ.
Kakar was adjutant general when Zia ordered him to admit 3 students in the army medical college. To the astonishment of the all powerful Zia, Kakar refused as the 3 didn't meet the merit requirement.
Later on, General Kakar stated that after General Beg became chief, he posted Kakar as Corps Commander Quetta in an attempt to sideline him for he resented his apolitical attitudes.
I first came across General Kakar when I presented a documentary on his extraordinary life. In that moment, a desire crept in my heart. Someday, I hoped, I would meet this mighty man. But alas, fate destined something else.
I'm consoled by the fact that I presented this very underrated character to the masses and played a small part to make sure the people are aware of their heroes and they can live on in our national conscience.
General Kakar was a silent man. He practiced humility as a virtue. If it were up to him, he would've been at peace knowing that his services remain unbeknown to his fellow countrymen, the same who he served so gallantly, and decided never to address them with the news of an imposition of martial law despite nature providing him with all the excuses to do so.
Rest in Power, Chief. May Allah bring you eternal peace.
Pakistan’s 5th Army Chief, General Abdul Waheed Kakar, passed away today in Rawalpindi. A professional soldier and statesman, he is best known for the Kakar Formula and his role in developing Pakistan’s missile programme.
The Kakar Formula
During the political turmoil of the 1990s, President Ghulam Ishaq Khan dismissed Nawaz Sharif’s government under Article 58(2)(B) on April 18, 1993. Although the Supreme Court restored Nawaz’s government, a bitter confrontation between the two leaders led to another dissolution of the assemblies.
General Kakar brokered an agreement among President Ghulam Ishaq Khan, Nawaz Sharif, and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to resolve the political deadlock. The Kakar Formula comprised five points:
▪️Resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
▪️Dissolution of the assemblies
▪️Early elections
▪️Appointment of a neutral caretaker Prime Minister
▪️Resignation of President Ghulam Ishaq Khan
General Kakar and Pakistan’s Nuclear Programme
After resigning, Ghulam Ishaq Khan retired from active politics but trusted General Kakar with overseeing Pakistan’s nuclear weapons. Contrary to common perception, the Army assumed a primary role in the country’s nuclear programme during this period.
Pakistan faced mounting US pressure under the Pressler Amendment to roll back or freeze its nuclear programme or allow inspections of key nuclear facilities. During an official visit to the United States, General Kakar made it unequivocally clear that Pakistan would not accept such a deal.
Operationalising Nuclear Deterrence
Under General Kakar, Pakistan accelerated efforts to operationalise its nuclear deterrent through credible air- and land-based delivery systems.
Between 1983 and 1995, the National Development Complex (NDC) and Air Weapons Complex (AWC) conducted 24 cold tests in the Kirana Hills, testing different bomb designs. In May 1995, the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) achieved the desired results after years of aerial-drop cold tests.
General Kakar directed Samar Mubarakmand to initiate research and development on an indigenous solid-fuel missile system. Pakistan had responded to India’s Prithvi missile tests with Hatf-I and Hatf-II, but both had limited range and payload capacity.
In 1994, the Project Management Organization (PMO) was established under Kakar’s direction. Its mandate included developing solid-fuel missile capabilities, absorbing technology transfers, and acquiring reverse-engineering and assembly expertise for M-11 (DF-11) and M-9 (DF-15) ballistic missiles. The NDC, AWC, and PMO were later integrated under NESCOM.
Pakistan’s Nuclear Diplomacy/Policy
General Kakar also laid the groundwork for a coherent nuclear policy by establishing a research cell within the Combat Development Directorate to study nuclear arms control and global and regional developments affecting Pakistan’s strategic interests. It later evolved into the Directorate of Arms Control and Disarmament Affairs (ACDA) under the Strategic Plans Division (SPD).
May his soul rest in eternal peace for his services to the nation. Ameen.
Documentary on General Abdul Waheed Kakar made by Raftar: youtube.com/watch?v=y2rKZTRA…
A very close acquaintance of ex army chief: 'General Kayani' once told me that Kayani said there was one ex army chief he really admired, and that was General Abdul Waheed Kakar.
When one thinks of it, General Kayani embodied some Kakaresque traits:
1. Removing armymen from civilian beauracratic posts.
2. Forbidding the ISI and MI to send political agents to rig the elections of 2008 (Hein Kessling, author of "Faith, unity, discipline: ISI of Pakistan" states this in his book)
3. Abstained from the imposition of martial law despite being provided with opportunities that other chiefs would've leapt at such as the memogate.
It was spy master kayani and then chief kayani on whose orders Pakistani intelligence extracted Sirajuddin haqqani from imminent death at the hands of American drone strikes more than once. Kayani treated him as an asset to actualise strategic depth in Afghanistan after the American exit.
Replying to @Huk06
I had met Kiyani sahib a few times when he was a serving chief. Very clear headed, though I still remember what he said of Siraj Haqqani when I broached the matter with him as a spymaster. History has proven him wrong on this score!
Pakistan's most renowned journalist very conveniently forgets that he was implicitly responsible for the death of these fine men.
When colonel imam and Khalid khawaja reached Waziristan, it was Hamid Mir who called the man from TTP they were supposed to meet and spewed baseless accusations against Khalid khawaja, calling him a CIA asset, and a friend of 'Qadiyanis.' As a result, both were captured and killed.
The same Pakistani journalists who sign praises of the Pakistani state and demonise the Taliban day and night, the grifters who currently pose as patriots, used to eulogise this enemy of state and portray him as a bulwark against Talib terror.
If not for American journos exposing his crimes, dumb pakis would be glorifying this satanic wretch for anti Taliban propaganda.
Pakistani intelligence (ISI) killed this scum in distinct fashion.
The guy in the video is Raziq Achakzai. Propped up by Americans post 9/11 as an anti Taliban actor.
Directly facilitated Indian intelligence and Baloch insurgents to use Afg as a base against Pak.
Raziq was pissed at the ISI for covertly backing the Taliban against the americans and to get revenge tortured and killed more afghans then Pakistanis.
After barely escaping from the clutches of death, a few months later, he was sent to hell by fighters linked to Saif Ur Rehman Saifi. This was a fairly dexterous move by Pakistani intelligence where they got an enemy (Saifi was part of TTP) to kill an even greater foe.
Such victories rather than remaining in decaying files should be revealed and prided upon.
Russian foreign intelligence chief visits Kabul to meet his Afghan counterparts months after Russia implicitly accused British MI6 of aiding ISIS against Russia and using them to destabilise the Taliban regime.
Furthermore, Russia was the only state to condemn Pakistani strikes inside Afghanistan.

Just witnessed a socio professor reprimanding a girl because she said she doesn't want to win the nobel peace prize.
He was furious, says why do you put yourself down? She replies:
"Actually it's that colonial imperial incentive that is beneath me. I don't want my name on a list with Kissinger and Obama. I'm good."
"The price of a Pakistani is a bottle of whiskey and a trip to the states."
Said an American consul general posted in Lahore. Unaware was he that Pakistani intelligence was aware of his 'exotic' sexual shenanigans where he used to 'buy' Pakistani boys for that 'price' and forced them to indulge in filthy acts.
You gotta play to the enemy's weakness. In this case being Pakistani boys. Boys should've pulled an Epstein with this filthy American.
Wanna see the stance the supreme leader had for Pakistan's arch nemesis? It included housing a terror sponsoring freak (Kulbushan) and protecting his compound by his lapdogs (IRGC)
From going to the brink of war with the Taliban over the killing of Iranian diplomats in Mazar e sharif, then helping the americans topple the Taliban, to now embrace the Taliban as 'brothers,' the Iranians certainly know their share of real politik.
This also seems to be a linguistic blow to Pakistan expressing displeasure on joining the front against the houthis.
There was a time when Iranian intelligence teamed up with the Americans to topple the Taliban.
Such statements from the Iranians could indicate tensions with Pakistan on the Houthi file. Worst case, Iranians might tacitly support TTP as a counter to Pakistan joining front against houthis.
I've maintained since day 1 that despite all Pakistan has done from them in the last year and a half, they won't take a moment to stab us right in the back when the time comes.

They say Jolani was aided by Mossad to topple Bashar but they very conveniently overlook that immediately after his takeover, israeli national security 'Nagel committee' released an emergency report stating: 'the threat from Syria could evolve into a greater threat than Iran.'
Why? What do they fear from a war torn state? One word: Erdogan.
I've put together hours of meticulous research outlining erdogan's story, his victory inside of Syria which resulted in jolani coming to power, and why now, Israel views him as a threat. Watch the documentary. Link is in the comments.
Picture 1: Pakistani intelligence chief reaches Kabul after Taliban victory in 2021. Displays arrogance perceiving himself as the victor who has got 'his boys' in power.
Picture 2: Turkish intelligence chief reaches Damascus after HTS victory in 2024. No arrogance, rather bows his head in gratitude at the historical Umayyad mosque as 'his boys' have deposed his greatest rival and taken over Syria.
Erdogan's turkiye succeeded in Syria where Pakistan failed in Afghanistan. How? After meticulous research and countless hours of investigating, I've made a documentary detailing how Erdogan gained 'strategic depth' inside of Syria, the same objective Pakistan failed to achieve in Afghanistan.
The link to the documentary is in the comments. Do watch.
