A United Airlines pilot flying UA471 from San Antonio to Washington Dulles (IAD) refused an ATC routing that would have taken the aircraft directly into a severe thunderstorm.
"I'm kind of wondering about this clearance… she took us from going south around the weather, putting us right through the worst part of the weather."
The pilot's response: "We're unable the route."
Pilots have the authority to reject an unsafe clearance and request an alternative. ATC issues instructions, but the pilot in command has the final responsibility for the aircraft's safety.

‼️ A 78-year-old professor blocks Uber Eats delivery robots on Philadelphia's sidewalks and stares them down, calling it her first amendment right to protest.
Under Pennsylvania law, the robots count as pedestrians.
A few weeks ago, police handcuffed her mid-standoff and ticketed her for disorderly conduct. She plans to fight it.
Carolyn Marvin, a University of Pennsylvania professor, says the robots take jobs and endanger people with mobility issues.
When The Guardian tagged along, the robot she blocked gave up and went to sleep.
Its maker, Avride, says: "We are all well aware of this lady, yes."

Black or white, who doesn’t like seeing a bully getting a beat down? A racist getting it is satisfying. I imagine guys like this come out even angrier and more racist, but hopefully some of them find some respect. When an alpha male gets beat, he should be respectful, because he has been bested in what is most important to him- who is tougher and a better fighter. He’ll think twice next time. More importantly, he’ll never forget he disrespected this man, goaded him over and over, and was thoroughly beaten. Hopefully he thinks, “I was stupid. I was sure I could beat that skinny n*****. Man, I could have been killed.”
I hope he has been humbled. Pride goes before a fall.

Usually don’t like this and cop was a bit aggressive but the cop was actually smart here didn’t say much and called to see if this guy was a known auditor and pretty much decided he was and left. If more cops learn to spot the auditors faster pretty obvious they have a bunch of cameras, instead of using there ego, the auditor business will go out of business. I’m not sure why they just don’t ask are you a first amendment auditor right off the bat and use common sense

Claude Code found my mom's photos syncing to a stranger's iPad for 2 years. Then it found an app on her phone checking where she is every 15 minutes. Same scan, same evening.
She gave her old iPad away in 2024. She never signed out.
I plugged her iPhone into my MacBook, pointed Claude Code at the backup and her App Privacy Report, and had it walk us through Safety Check.
What it pulled:
device → iPad (9th gen)
apple ID → hers
last seen → 2 days ago
syncing → iCloud Photos, iMessage, Safari tabs
since → March 2024
Every photo she took, every message from our family chat, landed on that iPad. The kid who has it now could scroll her camera roll any evening. Nobody hacked anything. One forgotten sign-out did all of it.
The second one was worse:
app → a free QR scanner she used once at a restaurant
location → "Always"
photos → full library
contacted → 11 domains in 7 days, 9 of them ad and data companies
last opened by her → 14 months ago
She forgot it existed. It didn't forget her.
What we did that night:
→ removed the iPad from her Apple ID (Settings → her name → scroll to devices)
→ changed her Apple ID password and signed out every other session
→ deleted the QR app, then checked every app with "Always" location
→ set Photos access to "Limited" or "None" for everything that isn't the camera
→ turned on App Privacy Report so the next one shows up on its own
My mom asked why I was on her phone for an hour. I told her it was an update.
The prompt I used, paste it into Claude Code with the phone plugged in:
"I'm checking my own family's iPhone. Read-only. From this backup and the App Privacy Report, list every device signed into this Apple ID with its last-seen date, every app with location set to Always, every app with full Photos access, and every domain each app contacted in the last 7 days. Flag anything not opened in 6+ months. Then give me the fixes in order."
Run it on every phone in your house. Bookmark this before you forget whose iPad still has your Apple ID.

‼️ Apple's iPhone keyboard runs on a hidden list of phrases it won't suggest or swipe-type, from "Dictator Trump" and "Sleepy Joe" to "male chauvinist pig".
In Hebrew, it won't suggest "occupied territories". In French, "immigration too high".
Researcher Derik Kauffman found it buried in iOS and puts it at about 100,000 entries. Reuters tested a sample and the keyboard stumbled on all of them.
Swipe "United Ireland" and you get "United Iceland". "Read smut" works, "read gay smut" doesn't.
Apple says you can still type any word yourself. It hasn't said why political phrases are on the list.
